Hallmark Christmas Fans Want New Network Leadership To Change One Thing
Now that Countdown To Christmas 2024 is over and Hallmark Christmas movie fans have time to reflect, many have some strong opinions. This is especially true as the network recently eliminated EVP Of Programming, Lisa Hamilton Daly’s position. Now, it looks like the network is going to make some big changes.
What is the one thing that Christmas movie fans want to see changed?
Hallmark Christmas Fans Want New Leadership To Change One Thing
In the 2024 holiday season, Hallmark Christmas movies were in abundance. There was close to 50 movies, their first Christmas series, Holidazed, a fantastic Chrismystry called Mistletoe Murders, Finding Mr. Christmas, and Ready, Set, Glow! between Hallmark Channel, Mystery, and the streaming channel Plus.
Now, the Reddit post entitled “Hallmark Leadership Change,” has fans suggesting what sorts of changes they want now that Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer is taking over Lisa Hamilton Daly’s tasks. Fans had some thoughtful answers. Many want one thing. They want good Christmas movies. Viewers felt that the 2024 batch was not memorable. Here is what some fans had to say.
- I’ve always wished that Hallmark would focus more on quality than quantity but I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
- The last batch of Christmas movies had more duds than successes. I can’t think of any that I’d jump at the chance to rewatch.
- It definitely seemed as if they were trying too hard to be Christmas this year. So much of the language of the characters seemed forced. But I guess, at this point they are running ot of juxtapositions for the same old stories and characters.
Many Felt The Holiday Movies Didn’t Have Christmas Stories
When it came to Hallmark Christmas 2024, some viewers didn’t feel the stories didn’t have enough Christmas in them. Many felt that they were more like the previous January-themed movies called Winterfest.
- Some of their Christmas movies felt more like generic winter movies instead of Christmas movies. Private Princess Christmas had little to do with Christmas. (The caroling scene, while I like it, felt shoehorned in.) Christmas Quest I don’t even remember what the connection to Christmas was other than the time of year. It could have been set in any time of year. I don’t remember much Christmas in Jingle Bell Run either (even though it was one of my higher regarded from the season).
One Hallmark Christmas Fan Wonders If Hallmark Is Using AI To Write Scripts
Serious Hallmark Christmas fans normally follow their favorite writers. Many will watch movies just based on who wrote them. However, the new leadership should be concerned that one poster accused the network of possibly using AI to write scripts.
“What is missing is the time and attention put toward a good script. They put out so many movies that the script writers I feel are under immense pressure to just churn them out (if they’re not already using AI to write their scripts).”
Hallmark Christmas fans, what is the one thing you would like to see the network change?
- ‘OTH’ Alum Robert Buckley Loves ‘An Unexpected Valentine’ With Lacey Chabert - January 27, 2025
- Kayla Wallace Returns To ‘WCTH’ Season 12 As Fiona Miller [Video] - January 27, 2025
- Hallmark’s Loveuary Movies ‘The Wish Swap’ Swaps With ‘Sisterhood, Inc.’ - January 26, 2025
The one thing I’d like to see is a return to the Christmas movies that had a romance not two silly girls getting into trouble. Plus I want the stories to have depth and emotions. There wasn’t any movies this year that had that. I want them to move me. These didn’t.
