Draya Michele Gets Slammed For Product Promotion Amid Fires

Draya Michele is receiving backlash for promoting an air purifier in the midst of all the L.A. fires. Followers of Draya’s Instagram have a lot to say about the promotion post and call her ” Tone deaf” and “Insensitive.” Keep reading to find out why she is promoting a product during a worldwide devastation.

L.A. Wildfires Update

L.A. wildfires have been burning since January 7, 2025. As of today the fires have caused approximately 153,000 people to evacuate their homes and have consumed over 10,000  homes and structures. The Palisades Fire has burned at least 19,059 acres and the Eaton Fire has burned around 13,690 acres. The fires have been marked by two things their speed and severity, and has grown twice the size of Manhattan. With the fires, Los Angeles air quality has reached a hazardous level with the air index reaching 300. This could have sparked Draya to post the air purifier promotion post on Instagram.

Draya Michele Air Purifier Backlash

Draya Michele is the girlfriend of Tyrod Taylor an American football player. Michele is a 39-year-old American media personality, actress, and fashion designer. She was born on January 23, 1985, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Michele’s first moment of fame happened when she was dating Chris Brown, She also was cast on the show Basketball Wives LA in 2011, and the TV show Will to Love. Draya owns her fashion lines, one swimwear line called Mint Swim which launched in 2011, a lifestyle clothing brand called Fine Ass Girls in 2013, and a clothing line called Beige & Coco in 2016.

Draya Michele is getting backlash for promoting an air purifier from the brand Sereniby.  Her Instagram post reads.

“While the unimagineable is happening with the fires in LA… air quality is so poor, toxic even. I’m using the @sereniby_official air purifier to ensure that my kids and pets are breathing in fresh, double filtered air. the brand is now offering $200 off when using my link in bio. There’s no price on peace of mind but having it is more valuable than most worldly things.”

Michele’s followers have come back in the comments and they are upset, some calling her ” tone deaf” and having “creamed corn for brains.” Followers are questioning the wording in her post because she is promoting something for homes, while hundreds of people are out of homes in L.A. The brand, Sereniby, has told PEOPLE that Michele was not compensated for her post. Draya genuinely wanted to share the product she uses to help with air quality. Sereniby has accounted they are donating 10% of their January profits to American Red Cross.

Draya Michele was promoting a product she thought would be useful for the followers living in California. However, her post did not get the support she thought it would, it left followers with a bad taste in their mouths considering the amount of people who just lost everything to the fires.
