Denise Richards Refuses To Quit ‘Special Forces’ After Injury
Denise Richards has gone through lots of trouble since she started her journey on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. She failed her first mission by missing a helicopter she was supposed to jump into. This caused her to break down and explain some childhood trauma that has pushed her to want to finish this experiment.
However, she also had a medical emergency where she ruptured her breast implants in the competition. Here is a look at what happened and why she said she had “no choice” and had to stay on the series rather than seek medical attention.
Denise Richards On Why She Stayed On Special Forces After Rupturing Implants
There was a challenge on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test where Denise Richards jumped off a bridge. This didn’t go well because, at that moment, she ruptured her breast implants. She also said she had already been recovering from the repair of four previous hernias.
According to Richards, she was more concerned about the hernia surgery than her implants. “I wanted to see a doctor, and I wanted to make sure that I was okay to continue with the weight and doing stuff,” she said (via Entertainment Weekly). “I wanted to make sure I didn’t damage the hernias; I knew the implants, and that was something I knew I could still continue [with].”
Richards said she was too embarrassed to mention the breast implant injuries. However, she said she had to stay on the show even though she had health issues now. “I wanted to be able to get out of it what I really, truly could,” she said. She said if she just left when she got hurt, it would mean she had no reason to be there anyway.
Denise Richards On What She Learned From Special Forces
“I am actually very proud of myself,” Richards added. “I had the guts to jump off a bridge; I was so happy. Even though I couldn’t climb in that helicopter, I was very happy.” She said she was able to at least grab on and she never thought she could even do that.
Denise Richards did say that she needed to have surgery, thanks to what happened on the show. “I still have to have surgery with my implants,” Denise said. “I just haven’t had the downtime yet. I’m hoping to do it in a couple weeks. Either [replaced] or removed, whatever I decide to do. The ones that are there have to come out.”
Interestingly, Denise said that her daughters didn’t want her to go on the show because it would be too dangerous. “I thought, ‘This is the most challenging thing I’ll ever do, and why not do it?’ I was terrified, but once I made the commitment to do it, I was there.”
