While most people who go to watch a taping of The Price Is Right get tickets with big dreams of being called to “come on down,” that does not mean that this doesn’t come without some nervousness attached. There is a lot of pressure on players, especially with all of the bright lights and all of the cameras.
Depending on how well players do on The Price Is Right, there is the potential to win some life-changing money and prizes. So, the pressure is certainly on, even when it’s all meant to be in the spirit of fun and games. According to host Drew Carey, it seems some contestants take things into their own hands when it comes to helping them cope with their nerves.
Drew Carey Says Players Turn To Alternative Substances
According to Drew Carey, the game show host recently dished on the fact that many The Price Is Right players seem to turn to alternative substances to help them calm their nerves in front of the cameras and underneath all of the bright lights.
Drew Carey went on to say that it’s “not unusual” for players to show up to the game show stage under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Carey went on to add: “Oh, that happens here all the time. They’ll have a gummy or I’ll smell alcohol on their breath. Not unusual.”
The Price Is Right Host Shares Hilarious Encounter With A Contestant
Drew Carey recently shared a hilarious encounter he had with a contestant who was clearly high on mushrooms during their time on the game show set. Carey said: “I asked him what he did for a living. And he goes, ‘I’m a skateboarding rabbi.’ He didn’t think he was going to get picked, and he totally tripped.”
Not long after, the contestant spoke out about this hilarious scene from the show, adding: “I’m an idiot and I took mushrooms, got drunk, then went on The Price Is Right and lied to Drew Carey’s melting face. HE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER.”
