Mel Gibson’s House Burns Down During Joe Rogan Podcast Appearance
Actor Mel Gibson revealed that he recently lost his home to the Los Angeles wildfires. Notably, this occurred while the star made an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast. The actor also shared that something had miraculously survived the fire.
Mel Gibson Was Talking About The Wildfires On Joe Rogan’s Podcast At The Time
Gibson is known for his work as an actor and filmmaker. He is known for his roles in the Mad Max and the Lethal Weapon series.
Gibson is also known for starring in, as well as producing and directing, Braveheart. Other notable films he’s appeared in include The Patriot, What Women Want, We Were Soldiers, Signs, and Disney’s Pocahontas. He also notably produced and directed The Passion of the Christ.
According to The U.S. Sun, the star recently shared that he lost his home to the recent Los Angeles wildfires. Notably, he was one of many notable actors who has recently been impacted by the fire.
The actor had owned a Malibu mansion worth $14.5 million. However, Gibson found the property had burnt down while he was making a podcast appearance.
The star had appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast in Texas. Notably, during his appearance, Gibson criticized California governor Gavin Newsom, in part over promises made concerning the wildfires.
Gibson shared with Rogan, “In 2019, I think Newsom said, ‘I’m going to take care of the forest and maintain the forest’ and do all that kind of stuff.” He also shared, “I think all our tax dollars probably went for Gavin’s hair gel. It’s sad. The place is just on fire.”
Gibson Admitted He Wasn’t Sure What To Do Next
The actor later spoke with NewsNation’s Elizabeth Vargas Reports over the destruction. He shared, “I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire, so I thought, ‘I wonder if my place is still there.”
“But when I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there. I had never seen such a complete burn.”
“There was nothing left but a chimney and a few roof tiles, and you dare not walk around for the nails and the whole deal. The vehicles were gone, everything.”
During the discussion, Gibson shared that his girlfriend Rosalind Ross and son Lars were evacuated. He also noted that the family’s chickens also somehow survived the fire.
Gibson shared, “It was amazing. They were fine. We gave them some grain and some water and they were happy, they were laying eggs. They weren’t roast chickens.”
At the time, when asked about rebuilding, Gibson said he wasn’t too sure about what to do going forward. He noted, “I don’t know. I’ll clean it up, because it’s toxic. Of course, the land is beautiful. It’s a beautiful ocean view.” Gibson tried to maintain a sense of humor, asking, “Hey, anyone want to buy the land?”
