When it comes to talk shows, hosts can easily win or lose an audience. Kelly Ripa learned this the hard way when she opened up about a less than popular opinion she had on Live with Kelly and Mark. The news came out after a recent announcement from the Girl Scouts of the USA.

Kelly Ripa Seemed Confused By The Girl Scouts’ Recent Announcement

Ripa has hosted the talk show with her husband since 2023. Beforehand, she had hosted the series with Regis Philbin, Michael Strahan, and Ryan Seacrest.

A recent topic of discussion on the series was the Girl Scouts. The organization is especially known for selling cookies as a form of fundraising.

As noted by People, the organization recently announced it would discontinue two of its cookies following the 2025 season. These were the Girl Scout S’mores and Toast-Yay! Discussing the news on the show. Ripa announced, “I guess Girl Scouts are retiring two fan-favorite cookie flavors.”

The announcement had Consuelos worried for his favorite flavor. As he replied, “No, no! Do not — if it’s the Samoa, I’m going to walk off set right now.”

After assuring Consuelos his favorite cookies were safe, Ripa had a few choice words over the less-fortunate flavors. As she shared, “I’m going to say, these are two flavors — I know they’re calling them fan-favorites, but I’ve never heard of these cookies. So, I suspect these fan-favorites that I’ve never heard of maybe are being retired for the very same reason.”

That said, Ripa admitted there’s a good reason she might not know about these cookies. As she noted, “And you tell me if you know these flavors. I’m like, ‘Did they just invent them? Where have I been?’ But again… at a certain point, my kids are grown so my kids’ friends who I used to buy Girl Scout cookies from are also grown.”

“Now I am reliant on whoever has young kids here. They are the ones who bring in the Girl Scout cookies and they are my suppliers.”

Ripa Learned One Cookie Really Was A Fan-Favorite

To her surprise, however, many members of the audience appeared to be familiar with the S’mores cookie. However, the audience, as well as Consuelos, did appear confused over the Toast-Yay flavor, which Ripa compared to French Toast.

Ripa and Consuelos then discussed how the cookies can now be purchased online. This caused Ripa to quip, “Yeah, I’ll get you some Samoas. I’ll get some Peanut Butter Tagalongs and I’ll get, um, I’m going to get the…” Consuelos attempted to fill in the blank with “Thin Mints.”

This caused Ripa to admit, “I don’t like Thin Mints. I don’t like them, there I said it! I don’t like—.” In turn, Consuelos turned to the audience and proclaimed, “Boo her!”

After getting booed by the crowd, Ripa then began to jokingly insult the cookie’s fans. As she noted, “You know what, you’re a bunch of pot heads down there!”

“This whole section! Wave to your families, pot heads! The pot heads like the Thin Mints. No surprise there. They dip them in peanut butter at home!”

The crowd appeared to take Ripa’s comments in good humor. Ripa herself then quipped, “How did Girl Scout Cookies become so violent?”

  1. I did see that Live with Kelly&Mark. I’ve never heard of the 2 flavors of cookies either. I’m sure they are delicious though. Girl Scout cookies are always so fresh tasting. Thin Mints are not my favorite though. Trefoils and Peanut Butter Sandwich cookies are my absolute favorite. I really thought nothing about it. I don’t have young children anymore either but I will buy some if I get the chance. I try to watch Kelly & Mark everyday. To me since Mark is CoHost it works so well!! Love them!!

  2. I love watching Mark and Kelly. I get up every morning just to make sure I watch them and if by some chance I oversleep since I live in Texas, it comes on at nine out here and California’s time is two hours behind out here so if I wake up late, I just watch it on the California time 🥰 I don’t know why everybody is being so hard on them all of a sudden they’ve been together forever no marriage is perfect, but there is pretty damn close

  3. I enjoy watching Kelly & Mark Live.If I know I can’t watch in the morning, I DVR the show to watch later. They keep me laughing with their cheerful banner towards each other. They are such a lovely couple & my favorite couple on TV.
