Joan Rivers’ Daughter Saves Keepsakes From L.A. Wildfire Destruction
Melissa Rivers just did an interview, and she spoke about the raging Los Angeles wildfires. These fires are destroying people’s homes, and many people are losing everything to the raging blaze. One home that was destroyed was the one that Rivers lives in, and she needed to grab two things before fleeing to safety during the fires.
Here is what Melissa said was important for her to grab before she made her way to safety during the wildfires.
Melissa Rivers Grabs Keepsakes From L.A. Wildfire Destruction
CNN spoke to Melissa Rivers about the Los Angeles wildfires. Joan Rivers’ daughter said that her home burned down, and she lost almost all of her family’s history in the destruction. However, she told the news outlet that she wanted to save something before leaving, and she could only grab so much.
Melissa said that she saved her mother’s Emmy Awad and grabbed a photo of her dad. “In my personal situation, that’s it. That is the end of everything that belonged to my family and the history of it,” Melissa sadly said. Joan Rivers died in 2014, and her dad, Edgar Rosenberg, died in 1987.
“To be 100% honest, I grabbed my mom’s Emmy, a photo of my Dad, and a drawing that my mother had done of…my son and I,” Melissa said. “And dog food, cat foo,d and that was it.” She reflected on what she grabbed. “I went for a drawing of my mother’s rather than a photo because I know I can find the photos… [the drawing] I can’t replace,” she said.
She said that her heart is broken for everyone going through this right now.

She made sure she got their passports, birth certificates, medication, and clothing out of the house. too. “I just was out shopping for clothes. It started to hit me that … we literally just have what’s on our backs,” she said. Melissa shared that she lost her home on January 8 to the Los Angeles wildfires.
“My family and I have safely evacuated and we are deeply grateful to be unharmed. I am heartbroken by the devastation caused by the fires, which have tragically destroyed my home,” she wrote. “I want to express my profound gratitude to the courageous firefighters and first responders who are tirelessly risking their lives to protect our communities and save lives.”
