How Bad Are ‘American Pickers’ Ratings Falling For Mike Wolfe?
American Pickers star Mike Wolfe has seen his popular reality TV show decline in popularity consistently since the series fired Frank Fritz. Last season had the lowest ratings of any season since the show started. Since Frank died, many fans have continued to tune out. This season has even lower ratings than last, making some fans feel the end is coming.
Here is how bad the ratings have gotten this season for Mike Wolfe.
American Pickers Ratings Continue To Fall
This season, Mike Wolfe was hoping to see American Pickers ratings start to climb again. However, that isn’t what happened. Even with Mike making amends with Frank Fritz before the latter’s death, it might have been too little too late for fans of the show. People are tuning out more than ever.
The highest ratings of the current season came in the December 18 episode. However, those numbers only accounted for 760,000 viewers. The week before that had 676,000 viewers tune in. There were only 584,000 on the December 4 episode. The November 27 episode had 623,000 viewers.
These numbers are bad, but things were even worse before that. On October 20, the series had its lowest season ratings, with only 442,000 fans tuning in. That was the week that Mike Wolfe showed off the DIY DeLorean. The second episode of the season (Wolfemen vs. The Automations) only brought in 463,000 viewers.
This is down even from last season, which was historically low. The premiere last season only had 723,000 total viewers, and the finale had 832,000. The February 28, 2024, episode was the best, with 966,000 viewers.
American Pickers Not Shutting Down Despite Bad Ratings
It seems The HISTORY Channel plans to stick with American Pickers and Mike Wolfe despite the low ratings. Mike signed a new deal before this season that will have him around for a couple of more seasons. The team even plans to hit the road in February to start work on the next season.
Mike Wolfe also seems to be living in denial, as the ratings continue to bottom out. He said that he was “blessed” because of the fans’ support.
“For 15 years now, we have been able to tell stories and focus on the history, people, and places that continue to bring us all together. I fall in love with America over and over again when I travel. There is no such thing as a nobody or a place that is nowhere. Now more than ever let’s seek and find common ground. 2025 We got this” (via The U.S Sun).
Despite his optimism, the January 1 episode of American Pickers saw ratings drop again. Only 595,000 people tuned in for the episode where he found a Hank Williams classic suit.
