‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg Rejects Sunny Hostin’s On-Air Gift
The View moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, isn’t one to just sit by and not say something if she doesn’t agree. However, in a recent episode, she made it clear what she wanted. She expressed her preferences when she rejected Sunny Hostin’s gift on-air.
The View Co-Hosts Return To Their Seats
After The View co-hosts took time to enjoy their holidays, they caught fans up on what they had been doing. First, Alyssa Farah Griffin shared she became a mother of two over the holidays. She took in her in-laws’ dog to give her puppy a buddy. Likewise, Sunny Hostin was happy to share she was in Puerto Rico during the holidays and even was comfortable during the blackout thanks to a generator. Ana Navarro got to cross the Panama Canal. Notably, she got right off the boat the night before the show and traveled to join the panel. Sara Haines spent time with family and even supported co-host Whoopi Goldberg by seeing her perform in Annie during the break. Undoubtedly, Whoopi was exhausted after her big role as Miss Hannigan. But Sunny was excited to share souvenirs she brought back for her co-hosts.
Whoopi Goldberg Rejects Sunny Hostin’s On-Air Gift
Upon her return from Puerto Rico, Sunny Hostin came bearing gifts. She gave them chocolate from the famous Chocobar Cortés company. Sunny says, “They are absolutely wonderful, I brought all of you some hot chocolate.” Then, she slid each co-host different brightly colored packages of chocolate. Cameras showed Sara Haines studying the yellow packaging of what appeared to be the “Sweet Chocolate” flavor. Furthermore, she reaches across the table to investigate the brown package “Hot Chocolate With Coffee” flavor. But Alyssa Farah Griffin held tight to her “Chocolate Cortés With Canela” aka, “Hot Chocolate With Cinnamon Bar.”
But quickly, Whoopi Goldberg snagged the brown bar and immediately rejected Sunny’s first offering in the yellow package. In a funny jab, she held onto the one Sunny reserved for herself. Whoopi carefully glided the yellow back across the table to land right in front of Sunny. Undoubtedly, the interaction made the audience laugh and may have distracted from Sunny telling about the Chocobar Cortés company’s mission.
Chocobar Cortés Company Is Doing Good Work
While The View co-hosts, Sara Haines and Whoopi Goldberg were preoccupied with claiming their chocolate, Sunny Hostin ignored them. She was trying to tell people about the fourth generation Cortés family who runs the company. Furthermore, she wants people to understand they have an even bigger desire to help people while sharing delicious chocolate.
Sunny says, “I want to point out they are doing such incredible work. It’s called Fundación Cortés and is a non-profit organization founded in 2012. And to date, they have served over 13,000 underserved children, youth, and adults. Because in Puerto Rico, 1 out of every 100 students is considered to have a high level of reading.” She attempts to correct her statement saying only 1 out of 100 has a high level. “[They] have a pretty low reading comprehension rate. And they’re standing in the gap for that. I just think that’s pretty incredible.” Likewise, Whoopi Goldberg seemed to agree it is a great company. Furthermore, they are also big promoters of art within the foundation. At one point, the company included storybooks in the chocolate bars in the 1950s and 1960s which inspired many people without resources to read.
