Drew Barrymore Wants To Yell At People On ‘Hollywood Squares’
Hollywood Squares is coming back. Based on the classic game show, nine celebrity guests will appear each week on the show, sitting in giant squares boxed on a big Tic-Tac-Toe board. These are primarily famous actors like Drew Barrymore and comedians whose job is to answer questions for the players. The players must decide if they are right or are either wrong or lying to get an “X” or “O” on the board.
However, there will be one constant. The center square always has a consistent face, and this season, it will be Drew Barrymore. Here is what she is most excited about when it comes to appearing on Hollywood Squares.
Drew Barrymore On Her Reason For Being On Hollywood Squares
Drew Barrymore is known as one of the kindest and friendliest Hollywood actors. She hosts her own daytime talk show and has often been accused of being too friendly with her guests. However, when it comes to her joining Hollywood Squares, she has a very different attitude she wants to display.
According to Drew, she isn’t on the game show to be nice and friendly. “I want to get out and run around! I want to yell at people! I’ll pull out a hair extension,” Drew joked about her appearance on the show (via Us Weekly).
Barrymore said she is a massive fan of the classic game show and said she knows why it is as popular as it became. She said that after she appeared in E.T. the Extraterrestrial, she learned how important it was to have things that people can congregate for and enjoy together. She said Hollywood Squares is like that, and people just have fun, laugh, and want to win prizes.
What To Expect From New Hollywood Squares
Drew Barrymore gets to have her home in the center square on Hollywood Squares. Throughout most of the show’s original run, Paul Lynde was in the important center square for most of the game’s existence. The center square participant in the show’s second run was Joan Rivers. In the third run, Whoopi Goldberg took the spot.
Former NFL football star Nate Burleson will host the show. Much like Michael Strahan, who parlayed his Good Morning America gig into hosting the $100,000 Pyramid, Burleson made his TV name on CBS Mornings with Gayle King.
Other celebrity co-stars appearing on the new Hollywood Squares include Drew Carey, Jay Leno, Tiffany Haddish, RuPaul, Gabriel Iglesias, and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. They should all bring some big laughs to the show. However, they should also be aware of Drew looking for a reason to yell at them.
