Mike Wolfe Makes Huge Move As ‘American Pickers’ Ratings Drop
Mike Wolfe might be looking at his post-American Pickers career. The show’s ratings have dropped even more after last season’s series-low ratings. With the ratings in a free fall, there is no telling when the HISTORY Channel will pull the plug on the once-popular antiques series. As such, Wolfe is making some interesting moves.
Here is what Mike just did with his antiques store in Nashville as his show’s ratings tank.
Mike Wolfe Makes Bold Move Amid Falling Ratings
Mike Wolfe has added thousands of dollars of new antiques to his Nashville retail store (via The U.S. Sun). Mike owns two stores called Antique Archaeology, one in Le Claire, Iowa, and one in Nashville, Tennessee. There were new photos that the site shared that revealed several new vintage items that Mike has added to bring in more money for his store.
These items are all an eclectic mix of antiques. Among the new items Mike added to his store is an antique coin horse ride priced at $3,500. A stock market machine cabinet runs $3,000. An antique cast iron water fountain costs $1,500. A old-time harmonica display costs $1,200.
Mike has an industrial cabinet (needs work) costing $995. A Cleveland Euro Mod bike runs $950. The store has a large stork statue that costs $850. They charge $700 for an antique detective camera. They also carry some more affordable items, including a Coca-Cola diner clock for $300, a red Huss sign costing $595, a Jerry Lee Lewis jacket running $595, a dollhouse costing $195, and an antique birdhouse at $175.
This is a nice side gig for Mike that might turn into a full-time money-making opportunity if American Pickers ratings keep dropping. According to estimates, Antique Archeology in Nashville makes a reported $903,000 annually.
American Pickers Hitting All-Time Low Ratings
While Mike Wolfe is stocking his antiques store with valuables, his TV show, American Pickers is bottoming out in the ratings.
Last season had the lowest ratings the show has ever had. There were hopes that things would turn around this season. With Frank Fritz dying and Mike seeming to connect with him at the end, some hoped fans would forgive him for how their relationship on the show ended and return. It hasn’t happened.
The December 18 episode of this season brought in the highest ratings so far with 760,000 viewers. However, the October 30 episode had only 442,000 viewers, and most of the season has run between that and just under 600,000 per episode. Despite the low ratings, Mike is signed on for a couple more seasons, and it stars filming again in February.
