‘Landman’ Fans Blast Taylor Sheridan For How He Writes Women
Taylor Sheridan became one of the most sought-after television creators thanks to his show Yellowstone. He is now the showrunner of several shows, including Tulsa King and Landman. However, a character in the latter show has many fans starting to turn on him, thanks to one female character whom they say he ruined.
Here is a look at what happened and why fans say Taylor can’t write women.
Fans Blast Taylor Sheridan for Landman Character
Landman has become a very great show in its time on the air. It seems it will join Yellowstone and Tulsa King as Sheridan’s next big hit. However, there was some character development in a recent episode that has some fans angry. They feel that Taylor’s writing ruined a popular character and accuse him of ruining female characters on his shows.
Landman is a drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a landman at an oil company. The show also stars Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, and Kayla Wallace. It is Kayla’s character of Rebecca Falcone that has many fans frustrated with Sheridan’s writing. Many fans have said that Sheridan seems to want to make all women “unlikeable” in his shows.
Most fans already have shown disgust and hatred of Ali Larter’s Angela and Michelle Randolp’s Ainsley. However, one character most fans loved was Wallace’s attorney, Rebecca Falcone. When she showed how smart and determined she was in the fourth episode, she picked up a legion of fans.
In the eighth episode, Sheridan wasted that goodwill, and fans decided that she was no longer worth cheering for. In this episode, she was in negotiations and then lashed out at everyone in the case, showing an unlikeable and vile disposition.
Fans Say Taylor Sheridan Makes Female Characters Unlikeable
Once Rebecca showed this side of her personality, many fans who loved her strength and determination turned their heads. They saw her instead as manipulative, overly confrontational, and they blame Taylor Sheridan for his writing.
Here is a look at what some fans had to say about the Landman character on social media after this specific episode (via Whiskey Riff):
- “Good attorneys don’t need to act like that. When you’re trying to settle a claim for a decedent you are dealing with emotions and not just numbers on a page. You have to be firm with them, but also compassionate.”
- “There is that saying that you become your own worst enemy. She became hers and Cooper is wiping the floor with her!”
- “Sheridan only knows how to write women one way, and his only way to show they are strong willed or a “boss b*tch” is to have them be angry and yell at someone.”
