Wheel of Fortune was in a tough spot this season, no matter how good it was. Many fans would always complain about the season because Pat Sajak retired. Many people didn’t want to see Ryan Seacrest in the hosting role, but he has won plenty of fans over. Despite this, some people still call it the “worst season” ever.

Here is what many fans consider to be the reason for the downturn in the quality of the game show this season.

Is Wheel Of Fortune Bad This Season?

Fans have complained that Wheel of Fortune is in the middle of its worst season ever. Many fans complained from the start because of Ryan Seacrest as the host. However, the new complaints are more about the quality of gameplay. Some fans feel the players this season are worse than ever.

This all came to a head in a recent Reddit thread. The OP said they don’t understand why players are not going for the mystery wedge. “Why is nobody flipping the mystery wedge?” the OP asked. “I understand if they have a prize or tons of money, but multiple contestants this season are choosing not to go for the mystery wedge when they only have $1000-2000. Really?”

They then said it was the “worst” season ever. Other commenters chimed in as well about the players’ decisions:

  • “Meredith had a whopping total of zero dollars in the second round when she landed on it. She said ‘no thank you.’ SMDH.”
  • “They really must’ve changed up casting this year because the contestants are noticeably less versed in the game.”
  • “Triple letters being left drive me insane. You’re not willing to take a chance on $10k, but you’ll gladly leave at least $1.5k on the wheel.”

A Former Player Explained His Wheel Of Fortune Strategy

This led to a former player (Cody Munger) explaining his strategy and why his go-to would be not to flip it. He said his strategy was to “only flip it if it was very early in the puzzle and I had little or no money.”

Cody said he landed on the flip in that exact circumstance but guessed the wrong letter, so he never had to flip it. He then said there is a 50/50 chance to lose your turn, so he would only do it early on to give him a better chance to move on and win.

Someone then asked what he would do if he knew the puzzle but had no money. Cody said he would do the flip in that situation unless the player next to him had a lot of winnings already.

What are your thoughts on this Wheel of Fortune strategy? Do you think it proves this season has bad gameplay? Let us know in the comments below.
