‘General Hospital’ Fans Confused By New Emma Drake Attitude
General Hospital fans have seen the character of Emma Drake grow up over the years, going through various changes and even actresses. However, fans have recently become confused over the character’s recent characterization. Many of these fans have taken to social media to discuss the character.
General Hospital Fans Have Seen Emma Change A Lot Over The Years
On the soap, Emma is the daughter of Dr. Patrick Drake and Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake. The character was born towards the end of 2008 and has been portrayed by a variety of actresses over the years.
Notably, the character was played by Brooklyn Rae Silzer starting in 2011. Silzer would appear in the role well into 2023. In 2024, actress Braedyn Bruner would take over the role.
The character has gone through a variety of changes over the years. Even the year of Emma’s birth has been quietly changed at times. However, Emma’s recent characterization on the show has left some fans confused. This came out when a recent clip of the soap appeared on the series’ official Instagram post.
As the caption read, “Anna lays down the law with her granddaughter.” In the clip, Emma has a confrontation with Anna after the former arrives home at four o’clock in the morning.
Emma initially attributes this to “jetlag” and having “trouble sleeping” the previous night. She claims to have been up a couple of times and apologizes for waking her grandmother.
Anna then promptly reminds her granddaughter that she’s “lying to a police commissioner with decades of experience running surveillance.” Emma confesses she was out, claiming she didn’t want to worry her grandmother.
Anna assured Emma she doesn’t need to “tiptoe” around her, while suggesting they call her mother, if only to “touch base.” When Emma claims to have already talked with her, Anna reveals she had just spoken with her as well, learning she wasn’t aware her daughter was transferring schools.
Anna then shares she knows Emma was expelled from school and asks for her side of the story. Emma reveals she threw a party that “got out of hand,” causing damage to a school building. Anna notes the expulsion took place on Halloween, revealing she’s been keeping secrets for two months.
One Fan Even Joked That Emma Was Keeping A Special Secret
Emma claims her party days are behind her. Anna retorts that they are, as she will now be staying with her.
Taking to the comments, some fans shared they don’t like the direction Emma is going. As one fan noted, “I don’t like this new Emma.” Another came to her defense, writing, “This is her 2nd episode. Give her a chance.”

One fan commented on the change in Emma’s age. As they wrote, “Emma was a preteen the last time we saw her. She’s now a teenager. And the hell begins.”
Some fans especially seemed confused by the change in Emma’s character. One wrote, “Don’t remember Emma being a trouble maker nor having a rivalry with Josselyn?” Another shared, “Why are they changing Emma so drastically? Why?”
One fan even joked this could lead to revelations about the character. As they mused, “Emma used to be so sweet and a great student. Suddenly they have her stealing a wallet and throwing parties in dorm.”
“Also, how did Emma supposedly [get] enrolled in PCU with no money? Maybe she is a junior spy.”
Similar comments also appeared when the clip was posted to the soap’s official YouTube page. As one fan suggested, “You know one thing they need to do with Emma, is have her reconnect with Danny.”
“Because when Sam and Patrick were involved, I would imagine that Emma built up quite a good relationship with Danny. So, to have them revisit that would be a good mini story.”

I have often been wondering lately, does the powers that be realize that many of us have been watching General Hospital over 50 years!?
We’ve watched, understanding each character and each relationship, those past and present. How do they think they can mix-up and throw out a new jumble of a character and we won’t notice?
Doesn’t seem like they are giving credit where credit is due. Simply, very annoying.
I don’t like the way Lulu is being portrayed. Annoying and not sympathetic. Emma is not likable either.
