Shark Tank host Barbara Corcoran is very wealthy and successful. However, she almost ruined her entire reputation when she made a harsh comment during an appearance on The View. She was speaking to the show’s hosts as a guest, and then she made a terrible comment, fat-shaming Whoopi Goldberg.

Here is what Barbara said and why she faced backlash for it.

Barbara Corcoran Fat Shames Whoopi Goldberg On The View

Barbara Corcoran was on The View back in 2021 with Mark Cuban and Daymond John, and they were speaking to the ladies on the show about the Good American brand denim jeans. The hosts said that they wondered if the jeans could fit their COVID butts. They then decided they would, and they agreed to try them out.

The conversation went on to say how Good American does a lot of work to ensure its sizes are inclusive for all body sizes. Whoopi asked about the “COVID” body types, which hinted at people gaining weight by staying at home for so long.

When Whoopi said she was willing to try them, Barbara decided to make a joke. She said, “When you get finished with those jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me, and I’m going to make two pairs.” Whoopi looked dumbfounded when she said this, and the audience groaned at the comment.

One thing to note is that the comment came right after Whoopi mocked Sunny Hostin by saying that Sunny only thinks she has a butt. However, even with Whoppi body shaming Sunny as a joke, it really didn’t excuse Barbara’s comment after that. Ana Navarro came to Whoopi’s defense and tried to mock Barbara’s dress.

Ana then said, “Donald Trump Jr tried that on me. It didn’t work! No, no, no,” referencing an incident where Trump Jr. called Ana fat in an interview. None of the situations were right, but Barbara took the brunt of the criticism.

Barbara Corcoran Has Apologized For The Comments

Many times, people hear someone say something horrific about someone else. However, few people hear the outcomes, apologies, and fallout from the situations. While Trump Jr. never attempted to apologize for fat-shaming Ana Navarro, Barbara Corcoran did apologize for what she said.

Barbara posted a video after the interview, saying she loved Whoopi and apologized for her comment, showing genuine regret (via Meaww). “I’ve known Whoopi for years,” she said in the video. “I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realise wasn’t funny. For anyone I may have offended unintentionally, I just want to say I really am very sorry.”
