Several rules are often in place when people appear on game shows. There are also rules behind the scenes since the shows often film several episodes each day before the season begins. When the players wait for their turns to come to film their shows, Jeopardy! has several new rules since COVID-19 forced social distancing.

One contestant revealed the rules the game show has implemented for everyone’s safety. They also revealed how this allowed them to have a very cool experience.

What Rules Are In Place For Jeopardy! Players Backstage?

Every game show has rules. There are gameplay rules, but there also are rules for the players to follow behind the scenes. Jeopardy! is one of these shows, and some fans recently wondered what kind of rules the show implemented for people waiting in the green room to come out for their games.

A fan posted a question to a Reddit thread and wondered about what happens backstage. Redditor QuaintMelissaK asked, “What happens in the Green Room before the games are taped?” This led one former contestant, whose Reddit name is MathisHard_11236, to answer.

“One good thing to come from COVID (besides an amazing mask tan) was sitting in the Wheel of Fortune audience seats instead of the Green Room to maintain distance. We even got to stand by the Wheel waiting for makeup.”

This led another former player (s0urfruit) to respond, “still bummed that I never got to spin the wheel. the couple of us who didn’t get drawn until the Friday game kept trying to make our case (especially after the wheel crew uncovered it and started shooting b-roll or some such later in the afternoon).” Another said that they were “heavily warned not to touch it or go near it.”

Jeopardy!Wheel Of Fortune Crossovers

There is one Jeopardy! contestant who did get to spin the Wheel of Fortune big wheel. Sam Nguyen recently appeared on Jeopardy!, where he came in second place. However, he said just being on the show was his dream come true. It was also his second game show appearance, as he came in second place on Wheel of Fortune in 2019.

Another Redditor in the post mentioned above also said they competed on Wheel of Fortune in 2023. Yet another talked about how they spent time in the studio while waiting for their Jeopardy! game to start.

“Every Jeopardy! contestant received a bag with an N95 mask, hand sanitizer, and alcohol wipes. Staff told us we needed to carry this bag everywhere we went,” Corey Anotado wrote about his experience. “We file into the Wheel of Fortune studio, dark and desolate. This is our staging area: we put our things down in the audience seating, we were briefed on rules and legal things, we were told to put our phones away after I sneak this picture of the Wheel of Fortune set with the lights off.”
