Ryan Seacrest Misses Holiday Tradition With Kelly Ripa
Ryan Seacrest is known for his prolific career having taken on many roles over the years, from hosting American Idol to Wheel of Fortune. For around six years, he notably served as a co-host for Live with Kelly and Ryan. In fact, Seacrest recently opened up about a holiday tradition he missed sharing with Ripa.
Ryan Seacrest & Kelly Ripa Served As Co-Hosts For Six Years Together On Live
Seacrest and Ripa became co-hosts in 2017 on Live with Kelly and Ryan. He had succeeded Michael Strahan, following a year-long search for a new co-host.
In 2023, Seacrest announced he would leave his permanent position on the show, citing the travel issues between Los Angeles, where he lived, to New York, where the show was taped. Mark Consuelos, Ripa’s real-life husband, succeeded Seacrest as Ripa’s next co-host.
As noted by Monsters & Critics, Kelly and Mark are going on vacation during the holidays. They were also reported to have set up a series of shows for viewers to enjoy.
Seacrest himself also filmed a tribute for the holiday shows. During this appearance, he shared a holiday tradition he shared with Ripa that he missed the most.
Seacrest Revealed That He Was Keeping The Tradition Alive In Spirit
In the video, Seacrest shared, “Doing the Christmas show is one of the year’s highlights. I remember looking forward to it so much. I mean, we would have Santa, of course. The highlight for me was the Christmas onesies. So comfortable to do an entire show in a onesie. I will miss that. I will be watching in a onesie at home.”
As the publication noted, Kelly and Mark watched the video and talked about the matching outfits. Kelly admitted she missed continuing the tradition. However Mark disliked the inside and refused to wear a matching onesie with his wife. The publication also noted that Seacrest and Ripa appear to be on good terms even after Seacrest has since joined Wheel of Fortune.
Notably, this is the last year in which the holiday show will be filmed at the 67th Street studio. For the swan song, the holiday show featured a variety of highlights.
Seacrest touched on getting visits from Santa in years past and this year was no exception. Santa visited the set complete with a bag of toys. Rob Thomas sang songs with him, even accompanying him on piano. The holiday shows, complete with Santa’s appearance, were also highlighted on the talk show’s official Instagram account.
