‘The Voice’: Why Is Reba McEntire Leaving Her Coaching Job?
In addition to her work as a singer and actress, Reba McEntire has also famously served as a coach on The Voice. However, the “Queen of Country” is set to leave the singing showcase. Some fans think they know just why McEntire is leaving her job.
‘Queen Of Country’ Reba McEntire Has Had Quite The Career On Television
In addition to her work as a singer, McEntire is also known for her work as an actress. For six seasons, she starred in her own namesake sitcom, Reba, for both The WB and The CW.
More recently, McEntire returned to the sitcom world with a new series, Happy’s Place. In the series, McEntire plays a woman who inherits her late father’s bar, only to learn she has a half-sister who is also a co-owner.
In addition to this, McEntire joined The Voice as a coach during its 24th season. Notably, a member of her team, Asher HaVon, ended up winning the 25th season.
However, McEntire isn’t expected to return for the 27th season. Instead, the coach lineup will include Adam Levine, John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, and Michael Bublé.
During her time on Season 26, McEntire had one contestant in the finale, Danny Joseph. However, ultimately didn’t score the win.
As Monsters & Critics noted, it’s unlikely that the season’s outcome had any impact on her leaving the show. After all, McEntire still won in Season 25, her second season with the show.
McEntire Will Still Be Working With NBC, Even After Leaving The Voice
The publication also highlighted how fans enjoyed McEntire’s presence on the show. As noted, viewers appreciated “her thoughtful critique and warm sentiments.”
Instead, the publication suggested McEntire might be leaving the series thanks to her busy schedule. As was noted, Happy’s Place proved popular since it debuted on NBC earlier this year.
As Variety reported, the sitcom had already been picked up for five additional episodes. This will bring the total episode order to 18.
The series premiere already earned 14 million viewers across all different platforms. Since its debut, the series has since improved its timeslot average by 90% with total viewers.
Happy’s Place also proved popular with critics. As Variety‘s Aramide Tinubu noted, “Though critics only received two episodes in advance, thus far, ‘Happy’s Place’ is nostalgic, funny and heartfelt.”
“In addition to an eclectic cast of characters and McEntire’s signature edge woven throughout the comedy, the Tennessee-set sitcom feels like a universal [crowd-pleaser] about family, friendship and generational divisions while paying homage to past TV shows’ rhythmic beats and tone.”
