Candace Cameron Never Wanted To Be On ‘The View’, Felt Betrayed
Candace Cameron Bure was one of the more controversial hosts on The View. This is mostly because she was one of the rare conservative-minded hosts among a panel of mostly liberal women. It also caused Bure to get a lot of flack, thanks to her strong views on many social issues. Now, Bure said she never wanted to join the show for those exact reasons.
Here is what Bure said about her time on The View and why it wasn’t a good fit for her.
Candace Cameron Bure Talks Time On The View
Candace Cameron Bure was a co-host on The View for one season and then quickly left the daytime talk show. The series, led by names like Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and more, has won several Emmy Awards during its 25 years on the air. However, when asked about her time there, Bure said she never wanted to be on the show at all.
“I tried to turn that job down multiple times,” Bure said. “I know they talk so much politics on the show, and I’m not comfortable with that, so no.” However, she said they came back to her and said they would not talk about politics as much if she joined them. However, she still said no.
With that said, she said they kept coming back to her and had a way to fix everything she didn’t like about the show, pushing to get her on it. She said they kept “upping the ante.” Finally, Candace said she would join, saying it was clear God wanted her to do the show (via Cinema Blend).
Candace Cameron Bure Felt Betrayed By The View
However, things did not go as it was promised. When Candace Cameron Bure joined The View, the political commentary didn’t stop. She said she did “hours of homework” each night to prepare for the show’s topics. She also had to take multiple flights from her home in Los Angeles to New York for the show.
She called it “the most difficult job I’ve had.” In the end, she said she left the show because it gave her PTSD. She admitted there needed to be more than one conservative host because she had to fight to speak her mind when everyone else was against her.
Despite this, she said that it was a great opportunity because it helped her learn and grow.
What are your thoughts on Bure saying she never wanted to appear on The View before finally agreeing to a one-season stint? Do you think her agreeing to be on the show really caused her to suffer from PTSD? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
