Ted Danson Has Had A Lot Of Notable Roles Over The Years
Danson is probably best known for playing Sam Malone on the sitcom Cheers. Lasting in the role from 1982 to 1993, Danson’s character was a retired baseball player who moved on to running the titular bar.
Danson would also become known for starring in the sitcom, Becker. He also had notable film roles in Three Men and a Baby, its sequel, Creepshow, and Saving Private Ryan.
In later years, Danson would gain notoriety for appearing as Michael in The Good Place. As seen in the series, deceased characters find themselves in the afterlife, only to realize things aren’t quite as they appear.
In a conversation with Radar Online, Danson recently opened up about how he plans to spend the rest of his life. As he shared, he understands that life can be filled with “hurt, sadness and grief.”
The Actor Already Has A New Series & A Podcast
As Danson put it, “This is your life. You get to live right up until you don’t live…It’s your life. It’s such a gift. Explore it and be excited about it.” The actor acknowledged that life can “hurt” and be “sad.” However, his advice is to “embrace it.”
The actor admitted that he doesn’t think too much about retiring, wanting to work for as long as he can. As he put it, “I really enjoy what I’m doing. I’m sure there’ll be a time when I should gracefully bow out, but that ain’t now.”

As Danson mused, “People think there’s a shelf life to creativity and contributing to life. There isn’t.”
The publication noted a few of the actor’s more recent projects. The actor recently took on the role of a retired professor who infiltrates a nursing home in A Man on the Inside. He was also noted to be working on a new podcast, Where Everybody Knows Your Name.
Danson married actress Mary Steenburgen in 1995 and cited her as an influence in his life. As he noted, “I’m married to Mary Steenburgen, so whenever I become self-deprecating, full of doubt, which I do on a regular basis, she lovingly goes, ‘Snap out of it,’ and kind of forces me out the door.”
“But part of acting is also always starting off at zero. It’s a pretty good place to start any project.”
