Fans Defend ‘WoF’ Ryan Seacrest Over Height Comments
Ever since taking over hosting duties on Wheel of Fortune, Ryan Seacrest has dealt with his fair share or critics. However, he’s also had fans that have come to his defense. Most recently, a few defenders were spurred on after Seacrest got criticism over his height.
One Fan Quoted A Randy Newman Song
Seacrest took over hosting duties on Wheel of Fortune back in September. He famously took on the role from previous host, Pat Sajak, who spent around four decades as the show’s host.
Thanks to this, many fans thought Seacrest had some pretty big shoes to fill. That said, in the months since taking on the role, some fans have admitted that Seacrest has grown on them.
However, there are still fans who still find reasons to find fault with Seacrest. In a recent post on the show’s Reddit page, some critics have even used Seacrest’s own height against him.
The post was even titled, “I know Ryan is not a giant but come on.” It then started out suggested Seacrest should wear some heels.
As the post continued, the user felt that this especially became an issue during a recent episode. They continued, “Literally every single contestant was at least an inch or two taller than he is. Pat wasn’t exactly a basketball player himself, but I never noticed such a [stark] difference like today.”
A few of the show’s fans felt this was a strange thing to criticize Seacrest over. One fan simply wrote, “Why is this an issue?” This caused another to quote Randy Newman, “Short people got no reason to live.”
Ryan Seacrest Himself Has Joked About His Height Over The Years
One fan shared, “People find the weirdest reasons to hate on Ryan.” They continued, “I guess that means he’s doing a good job if this is the complaint you have.”
Another wrote, “I thought Pat would stand on something to make him at least as tall as most of the contestants. Today when I noticed Ryan was shorter than all of them, I interpreted that as he didn’t feel a need to make himself taller.”
That said, some users admitted they thought the same thing. This caused the original poster to share, “Thank you. Some people are just overly sensitive. The jury is still out for me on Ryan.”
“Actually, he’s doing better than I thought he would, but some things just rub me the wrong way. [To be honest,] I don’t care much about his height but tonight it was a bit off.”
The user who wrote up the original post later noted, “There’s a tag FUN attached to my post. First of all, read and pay attention. And second of all, lighten up!”
As noted by Monsters & Critics, Seacrest has joked about his height for years. Noting that he’s about 5’8, he once noted on his radio show that Google once listed him as 5’7. As the publication noted, his Instagram bio even reads “Taller in person.”
