‘DOOL’ Deidre Hall & Susan Seaforth Hayes Mourn Wayne Northrop
Actor Wayne Northrop recently passed away at the age of 77. In his career, the actor was known for his work in soaps, notably Dynasty and Days of Our Lives. A few of the actor’s former cast-mates recently shared what it was like working with him over the years.
One Of Northrop’s On-Screen Love Interest Talked About The Late Actor
Northrop notably appeared as Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives in 1981 and into the 1990s. In 2005, he returned to the series as a new character, Dr. Alex North.
Northrop also appeared on primetime soap opera, Dynasty, playing the chauffeur Michael Culhane, in the first and seventh seasons. He also appeared as Rex Stanton on Port Charles.
The actor passed away at the age of 77 in his home this past Friday. As noted by Deadline, the actor’s wife, Lynn Herring Northrop, revealed he had been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s six years prior.
Some of Northrop’s co-stars from Days of Our Lives have recently opened up about his death. Actress Susan Seaforth Hayes, who plays Julie Olson Williams, shared, “Wayne was always funny.” Talking to Us Weekly, she added, “Everybody loved him. He worked very, very hard.”
Seaforth Hayes, who also lost her co-star and husband Bill Hayes this year, dubbed the late actor a “darling guy.” She said he would be, “vividly remembered by all the fans and by all of us.”
Deidre Hall also spoke about the late actor. Her character Marlena Evans was notably a love-interest to both of Northrop’s characters on the soap. As she noted, her on-screen love-interest, “never met a joke he didn’t like.”
Hall continued that, “He never met a practical joke that he didn’t want to pull on somebody. He was forever, forever playing practical jokes.”
The Actresses Noted How Comforting Soaps Can Be During Sad Times
Hall also noted how fans find comfort in watching the soap. As she continued, “I think they come to us in times of need, when they need comfort.”
“They need reassurance. They need a sense of family that maybe is not in their house at the time and Days of Our Lives is very good about providing exactly that for everybody.”
Seaforth Hayes also made note of all the recent losses the soap has recently undergone. As she shared, “My husband, Bill Hayes, Drake Hogestyn, and now Wayne Northrop. Bang, bang, bang, all coming down at once.”
Similar to Hall, Seaforth Hayes also noted how comforting the world of soaps can be. As she continued, “I think the show gives comfort and it certainly gives me comfort to come in and work with Deidre and see that we are going forward and making the best of every hard situation.”
