‘Jeopardy!’ Priest Makes Tournament Of Champions Despite Botch During Game
The latest Jeopardy! champion has become a quick fan favorite. That is because he is a priest and even wears his collar. However, he has shocked fans thanks to his knowledge in some areas. He even qualified for the Tournament of Champions despite an early game botch. Add on his ability to answer some surprising questions, and he is on quite the roll.
Here is how the Jeopardy! priest has done so far on the game show.
Jeopardy! Priest Qualifies For Tournament Of Champions
Kevin Laskowski had a great game on Wednesday. He won his third day in a row, qualifying for the Tournament of Champions. While it takes five wins for an automatic invite, there have been so few champions of four or more days that the three-day champions are being invited. That was all Kevin needed, and he earned his pass.
However, the Episcopal priest almost had a botch that cost him the game and that invitation. He went up against Julia Schan, a stay-at-home mom from Pleasanton, California, and Drew Wheeler, a high school social studies teacher from Athens, Georgia.
After the first break, Kevin was in second place with $600, trailing Drew, who had $2,900 thanks to the first Daily Double. In Double Jeopardy!, Kevin caught up and was only $100 behind Drew after that round. He then made a shocking wager on the “E BOOKS” Daily Double category.
“This nonfiction Pulitzer winner is subtitled “Poverty and Profit in the American City”; the title happened to many families,” Ken Jennings read. Kevin missed it and dropped his score drastically (“What is Evicted?”)
Kevin roared back, however, and ended up winning, $13,599 to Drew’s $8,700.
Jeopardy! Priest Misses Bible Questions, Gets Megan Fox Question Right
However, what really intrigued fans about Kevin was his knowledge of some interesting categories. On the day that he won his first game, he actually swept the rap category, getting all the answers right.
What was even stranger was that, on Wednesday’s game, there was a Bible category. That seems like a shoo-in for a priest, but that wasn’t so. Kevin missed two of the questions in that category despite spending his life studying the Bible. However, while he missed those, he did get a movie question right when he guessed Megan Fox’s sexy horror movie, Jennifer’s Body, in a question.
Kevin Laskowski finally lost on Thanksgiving Day when he fell by $2 in Final Jeopardy! to see his reign come to an end. However, his three wins will be enough to get him into the Tournament of Champions this year.
