‘Deadliest Catch’ Fans Want Saga Return With New Captain
There have been many iconic ships on Deadliest Catch. While it isn’t one of the oldest ships on the show, there are not many fans who want to see the Saga back, even if it has a new captain. However, there are other fans who think that there are more iconic ships they would rather see return.
Here is a look at why many fans want the Saga back on the Discovery Channel reality TV series.
Deadliest Catch Fans Want Saga Back On The Series
Jake Anderson lost the F/V Saga because of situations out of his control. Since that time, he has moved on to work on other ships but is no longer a captain. Now, there are some fans who want to see the Saga back on Deadliest Catch again, with or without Jake.
Someone posted a Reddit thread saying they wanted to see it back. They said it would be nice to see it, even with a new skipper, although it would be hard to see it without Jake. They finished by saying, “it is also such an iconic boat that it’s crazy not to see it anymore.”
However, not everyone was ion agreeance on this thought:
- “The Saga didn’t pop up until season 9! I don’t think it’s as iconic as some of the other boats. Also, the fact that it first popped up associated with Elliot icks me out.”
- “The older boats like the Wizard. Northwestern and Time Bandit are the only iconic ones.”
- “Saga has changed quite a bit since it was first on the show. And It was actually in the pilot and season 1 captained by Roger Strong. Honestly for me just one of those things that I got used to it so it feels weird without it.”
How Did Jake Anderson Lose F/V Saga?
The F/V Saga was one of the most iconic ships on Deadliest Catch. However, it ended up lost thanks to bad luck by its captain, Jake Anderson. While many ships are lost due to bad weather, Jake lost his ship and it wasn’t even his fault.
Jake used to work as a crabbing fisherman on the Northwestern and that is where he is working once again. However, in between all that, he was a captain of his own ship and managed a multi-million dollar crabbing company. That all ended when he lost the F/V Saga.
Jake invested a lot of money into his ownership of the F/V Saga with Lenny Hertzog. This included his kids’ college funds. However, the boat ended up almost sinking his career. Jake found his ship repossessed. It had something to do with legal issues for Lenny, but it wiped Jake’s investment out in one day.
“I found out my partner, with all due respect with the legal things going on, we don’t know what he did,” Jake said. “I lost my boat. I went from having the most King Crab to catch and having a nice platform. I built it with my own two hands to lose it all over a weekend.”
