As 1000-Lb Best Friends continues, fans seem to have pretty mixed feelings against newcomer Scott. At first, fans had fun meeting the new cast members through Dr. Procter’s bariatric support group. But after just a few episodes, it’s become immediately clear Scott sincerely struggles with food addiction.

During Sunday night’s new episode, the girl group called Scott out for engaging in unhealthy habits. See what 1000-Lb Best Friends viewers have to say about the uncomfortable scenes.

Is Scott Faking His Tears On 1000-Lb Best Friends?

Avid TLC viewers are generally familiar with food addiction. Many of the patients on My 600-Lb Life struggle with it. Now, 1000-Lb Best Friends star Scott will need to conquer his issues if he wants to improve his health.

However, several viewers think it’s all just a farce.

“Scott and his crocodile tears,” one 1000-Lb Best Friends viewer shared on Reddit after the new episode. “I can’t get over how FAKE all of Scott’s interviews/interactions are! I just can’t detect a lick of sincerity. I’m not saying he’s lying about everything but his fake crying is awful.”

The OP went on to describe that Scott always seems to be saying exactly what everyone else wants to hear.

“I’m calling BS. I don’t think Scott actually cares about being overweight and I don’t think he has any deep rooted emotional issue driving it. Obviously it’s all pretty heavily scripted but someone stop giving him the crying parts,” the OP concluded.

Viewers Aren’t Sure How They Feel About Scott Yet

It’s still pretty early in the season, so there’s plenty of time for Scott to turn his behavior around.

Other viewers had mixed reactions to the OP’s post about his “fake tears.” Some agreed that Scott’s scenes felt incredibly scripted and awkward. But others thought there might be a reason for Scott’s onscreen presence. A few pointed out that the TLC star is going through a very vulnerable experience in front of camera crews.

Comments included:

  • Honestly I don’t know why I watch reality shows as most scenes of these shows are clearly scripted.”
  • He acts like a 3 year old. He isn’t fooling anyone!”
  • I don’t see how he can lie about being overweight. And there’s not a doubt in my mind about him being bullied.”
  • “Honestly, he’s probably withholding information. Something tragic may have happened that he doesn’t want to share. This is his first therapy session and it can take months, even years for a patient to finally acknowledge and open up about past traumas (and mind you, his sessions have camerapersons and crew).”
