‘American Pickers’ Mike Wolfe Nashville Store Suddenly Closes Down
American Pickers star Mike Wolfe has two antique stores — one in Iowa and one in Nashville. However, people wanting to visit the Nashville store recently received a rude awakening. Antique Archeology, Mike’s store in Nashville, ended up suddenly closing down with no warning.
Here is what happened and why Mike’s store shut down in Nashville.
Mike Wolfe Closes Down Nashville Store
American Pickers star Mike Wolfe, 60, owns Antique Archeology stores in both Le Claire, Iowa, and Nashville, Tennessee. However, on Tuesday morning, Antique Archeology Nashville closed its doors (via The U.S. Sun). They let customers know about the decision that morning.
The store posted on Instagram, “Our Nashville store is currently closed due to some construction issues! We will keep you updated on when we open back up. We are so sorry for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing y’all soon!” They also later posted an Instagram Stories image showing that it opened again on Wednesday.
Not only did the store reopen on Wednesday, but Mike also made an in-person appearance to promote his Black Friday sales. Not only did he show up, but he was wearing a vintage Santa Claus costume. He showed off several items, including hats, coasters, mugs, and shirts.
Mike Wolfe Pumps Up His Stores Outside Of American Pickers
Mike Wolfe also mentioned to the customers how the stores compare to what fans see on his show, American Pickers.
“We have a TV show,” Mike told the customers. “Before the show it was just Danielle [Colby] and I working in here. When the show hit, everyone came in and asked for t-shirts and hats. There is a mix of merch and vintage.” Fans of the show should recognize both stores as they have appeared on the reality TV series on the HISTORY channel.
Mike might want to see his stores do even bigger business. While he has signed a new deal for at least two or three more seasons of American Pickers, the ratings have been down. This season’s November 20 episode had 521,000 viewers, down from the 582,000 from the November 13 episode.
The lowest episode of the season so far came on October 30 with only 442,000 viewers. The premiere, usually big for ratings, was not much better than later episodes, with only 565,000 fans tuning in to see Mike looking at Evel Knievel memorabilia.
Last season’s average viewers were 723,000 per episode, down from the average. This season hasn’t come close to those numbers for any episode. Curse of Oak Island, Tales from Oak Island, UnBelievable with Dan Aykroyd, and Mountain Men all get better ratings than American Pickers on the HISTORY Channel.
