Fellow Olympians ‘Jealous’ Of Ilona Maher’s ‘DWTS’ Moves
Olympic Rugby player Ilona Maher may not have the highest scores on the leaderboard, but she certainly has the most heart. After the first few weeks of performances, many DWTS viewers weren’t sure she would make it to the Season 33 finale. But at the end of the semifinals, she and her partner Alan Bersten jumped for joy when they learned they had secured a place in the finals.
Ilona loves sharing her experience on Dancing With The Stars with others. At least one other US Olympic athlete loves watching her on the dance floor and admits she’s “jealous” of Ilona’s moves.
DWTS Finalist Ilona Maher Impresses Other Olympic Athletes
Fans who follow Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten on social media have adored seeing their friendship blossom. They’re more than just dance partners — they’re friends for life.
He’s taught her so much about dance and confidence. And other Olympic athletes have started to take notice.
“She is on fire and she’s got moves and I am jealous,” US Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim shared with PEOPLE. “I am so stiff.”
The athletes are still new friends, but they got along incredibly well upon their first meeting.
“Ilona and I actually went on a hot girl jog recently and then got brunch. So that was my first time meeting her,” Chloe shared. “I just love her and I love everything that she does, and I think she’s such an inspiration.”
The 24-year-old added she too received an invitation to appear on Dancing With The Stars in the past. However, she declined, noting that she has no dance abilities. But after spending time with Ilona, Chloe might just change her mind.
“I think I’ll be seeing her soon, so I’ll pick her brain about it and see,” the snowboarder added. “But from everything she’s told me, she seems like she’s having the most incredible experience and so she’s selling me. I’m into it.”
Chloe Kim mentioned she hadn’t yet met fellow Olympian and DWTS finalist Stephen Nedoroscik. However, she looks forward to it and also enjoys watching him perform.
The DWTS Season 33 Finalists Prepare For One Last Show
Tonight, Alan and Ilona have two more performances before their time on DWTS concludes. For their redemption routine, they’ll dance the Jive to “Shake a Tail Feather” by Ray Charles & the Blues Brothers. And for the highly-anticipated freestyle, they’ll perform to “Femininomenon” by District 78 featuring Mona Rue.
No matter how they place in the finale, Ilona and Alan are incredibly happy with their journey together.
