Diddy Sends Cease-And-Desist For Documentary About Protégé
Sean “Diddy” Combs is working hard to clear his name. He remains in jail and has allegedly tried to sway witnesses and even “taint” the jury pool from behind bars. However, a new Hulu documentary series is coming, and he wants to stop its scheduled release. According to reports, Combs has sent a cease-and-desist to stop the series from its scheduled release.
Here is what you need to know about the new Hulu documentary that Combs is worried about.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Worried About Shyne Documentary
Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter over a new documentary about his one-time protégé, Shyne. From the sound of it, he doesn’t want to stop the release but wants to ensure that anything about him is “accurate.”
It was 25 years ago that Shyne reportedly took the fall for Combs after a 1999 nightclub shooting. The documentary The Honorable Shyne is supposed to go into detail about the man’s life. This includes Gene Deal claiming in the documentary that Combs performed a “bird sacrifice” before the verdict was read in the nightclub shooting.
Shyne was at the Manhattan nightclub with Diddy and Jennifer Lopez in 1999, where a confrontation between Combs and another man saw guns drawn, shots fired, and bystanders injured. Shyne and Combs went on trial in 2001. The courts only convicted Shyne.
Shyne spent eight years in prison and now serves as a politician in Belize.
What Is In The Shyne Documentary About Diddy?
In the new documentary, Shyne says Sean Combs’s ways are “coming to light.” He also says he was Combs’s “fall guy.” “Everyone was partying and having a great time with Diddy while I was left to rot in prison,” he remembers.
In an interview about the documentary, Shyne said he thought he was protecting Combs (via Page Six). However, he said Sean turned on him and “got witnesses to testify against me, to say that basically I was this uncontrollable person that was acting in a depraved manner, which was the furtherest from the truth.”
Combs’s attorneys deny all of Shyne’s allegations and said that the courts acquitted him of all charges in that incident. “Mr. Combs appreciates the path Mr. Barrow has pursued and wishes him continued success. It is unfortunate that Mr. Barrow has chosen to revisit these allegations,” they said.
The problem with the cease-and-desist is that the documentary has already dropped on Hulu. The Honorable Shyne hit Hulu on November 18 and is available to stream.
