In 2025, Carrie Underwood will become the newest judge of American Idol. She will replace Katy Perry and has already filmed the audition episodes. The show premieres in a few months, and she will return for the live episodes even longer. However, Luke Bryan already sees a problem with the former Idol winner.

Here is what Luke says her biggest weakness is as Carrie replaces Katy on American Idol.

Luke Bryan Talks Carrie Underwood On American Idol

Carrie Underwood has said she is excited about her upcoming stint as a judge on American Idol. She believes she can be honest and give good advice while remaining kind and encouraging to the singers. However, Luke Bryan sees one big problem with her during the auditions.

Luke says Carrie doesn’t like to say no. “The thing about it is Carrie has to kind of learn in real time,” Luke said about the American Idol alumnus. “You kind of have to learn how to be a judge. It’s not like you can go to American Idol judging school” (via PEOPLE).

Luke said Carrie is “awesome with the kids” and “has the best soul and heart.” He added she is settling into the role well. There is one problem, though. Luke says, “When she has to say ‘No’ she’s like, ‘I don’t wanna tell them no. But it’s kind of a part. It’s hard when you got a kid that’s young and they haven’t found who they are musically.”

This is the latest advice from Luke to Carrie. He also previously told her to “up her therapist” because she would have to deal with him and Lionel Richie regularly.

American Idol Returning Later Than Usual

American Idol usually premieres in January or February every year. In fact, other than its first season and the 16th and 17th seasons, it usually premieres in January or February. However, this time, it will premiere when it did in Seasons 16 and 17.

American Idol will be back for Season 23 on March 9, 2025. The show has only premiered later than this one time in its history (other than Season 1, which premiered in June). The good news is that if the season is like the other two that premiered in March, it will still run the same number of weeks and end in May.

The only other change this season is Carrie Underwood joining the roster. This means a former American Idol champion will get to judge full-time for the first time ever, giving her an outlook no other judge has ever had on the series.
