‘1000-Lb Best Friends’ Group Support Meeting ‘Fake Details’ Spotted
All reality shows have some scripted elements to them. But has TLC gone too far with 1000-Lb Best Friends?
Now that Season 3 has been airing new episodes for about a month, fans have noticed some scenes seem a little too convenient to be plausible. The first episode featuring the bariatric support group caught a lot of attention. Read on to see what fans have to say.
1000-Lb Best Friends Viewers Notice Some Scenes Are Very Staged
One of the major plot points of 1000-Lb Best Friends Season 3 involved Vannessa Cross’ crumbling friendships with the rest of the friend group. When the season began, she wasn’t on speaking terms with Meghan Crumpler or Ashely Sutton. The friends just happened to all show up to Dr. Procter’s bariatric surgery support group at the same time and seemed shocked to see one another.
“The ‘Very Real’ support group meeting,” one viewer sarcastically titled their Reddit post. “Don’t know what episode this is but it’s towards the start of the show. The scene where Meghan was talking about how surprised she is she’s never ran into Vannessa at support group. Then conveniently as the film crew came she’s the only one at the group…and you won’t believe who shows up. It’s a good show but come on…this is way too obviously staged 🤦♀️”
Other 1000-Lb Best Friends viewers acknowledged TLC staged this scene, but many weren’t shocked. Comments included:
- “Reality TV dude 😂😎”
- “I bet other patients wouldn’t agree to be filmed. You know Dr. Procter’s office probably has hundreds of patients.”
- “I mean c’mon their whole fight seemed staged. You can’t convince me that Ashely is actually friends with Meghan.”
- “The only problem I had with the whole thing was Doctor Procter had his shirt tucked into his jeans. 😂”
Vannessa’s Fight With Meghan & Ashely Seemed Real Enough
Although 1000-Lb Best Friends certainly has staged scenes, Vannessa Cross’ feud with her costars seemed real. In a new interview with Access Hollywood, she discussed the disconnect with the other women and admitted there are still unresolved feelings.
“I don’t want to say it was jealousy at all, it was just weird that massive weight loss, and then they just stopped talking to me and didn’t even explain why. I didn’t understand,” the TLC star shared. She added that she wants to keep the lines of communication about the fight open, but Ashely and Meghan just want to move on.
