‘Survivor 47’ Pays Tribute To Host Jeff Probst’s Mother
Amid all the competition, Survivor occasionally shows its heart. A recent episode of the series paid homage to someone important to host Jeff Probst: his mother Barb. Family, friends, and even fans of the show have also recently shared tributes to Barb.
Jeff Probst’s Mother Barb Was Dubbed Survivor‘s All-Time Fan
As Survivor 47‘s tenth episode ended with an in memoriam slide dedicated to Barb. It read, “Dedicated to Barb, the biggest Survivor fan of all time,” adding “See you on our next adventure.”
Barb is the mother of series host Jeff Probst. Earlier this month, her son and Jeff’s brother Brent shared a tribute to her on Instagram.
As the post shared, “My amazing mom Barbara Probst passed away peacefully yesterday in her home. She was the best mom, grandma and just a fantastic person full of love and life.”
“For the last couple years, she had full-time care for dementia and died one week before her 86th birthday. She had a great life and I am certain that I am a good person because she and my dad raised me with love and humor. I will miss her every single day for the rest of my life.”

Brent had also recently shared a Mother’s Day post with a photo of him and his mother. As it read, “Happy Mother’s Day. Love you so much.”
Many fans have also recently shared stories about Barb. After news of her passing was shared on the Survivor Reddit, one fan noted, “Met her once at the farmer’s market in Phoenix. She was so proud to ask me about the Buff I was wearing and telling me she was Jeff’s mother.”
Barb Was Also A Prominent Part Of The Delta Gamma Sorority
Another commenter shared that they knew her through her sorority. As they wrote, “In addition to being Jeff’s mom, Barb was a leader in her sorority, Delta Gamma!”
“I’m from her chapter of initiation and she was always so welcoming to the girls at DG convention (which she planned for a long time). She was super musical and did a lot of work recording and preserving songs. ITB Barb.”

As noted by Distractify, former Delta Gamma Foundation Executive Director Roxanne Ebner LaMuth also shared that, “Barb will go down in Delta Gamma history as an incredible leader who empowered others to lead.” She also noted that “the twinkle in her eye and the way she radiated warmth and kindness” always added a “magical spin” to whatever project she was involved with.
In addition, Delta Gamma is raising funds for the Barbara Bartlett Probst Honorary Scholarship in her honor. The scholarship was also notably set up with the help of Barb’s family.
