Keke Palmer Ready To Fill Hoda Kotb’s ‘Today’ Show Shoes
On September 26th Hoda Kotb announced that she would be leaving the Today Show. She made this decision so that she could spend more time with her children. In a recent interview with actress Keke Palmer, Keke teased Hoda that she would like to replace her as cohost of the morning talk show. Furthermore, Palmer has previous hosting experience that could qualify her for the position of cohost of Today.
Keke Palmer Volunteers To Cohost ‘Today’
Keke Palmer sat down with Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager to discuss her new book Master of Me. During the interview, Palmer joked that she was ready for a job in New York and could work with the morning hosts on Today. Jenna revealed to Keke that there was an upcoming opening with Hoda making her departure soon. Keke said:
“The funny thing is I do actually live in New York, but I’m always working everywhere else. So, are you guys gonna give me a job here? Is it time? Just add me to the show.”
Hoda and Jenna giggled. Kotb told Palmer she was “About to fly like the wind.” Keke was all for this. She said “Oh, no! Well, I’ll just, let’s switch real quick.” However, Palmer immediately went into hosting mode and began to interview Hoda about her exit from the show. Guthrie joked “Well, Keke’s sticking around for the next five years.” The ladies were having a good time joking around but Keke Palmer has plenty of experience to take over for Hoda. She co-hosted Good Morning America from 2019 to 2020, her own talk show Just Keke in 2014, and multiple award shows.
Hoda Kotb Announces Her Exit From ‘Today’
Hoda recently turned 60 years old. She has two daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 5. Kotb has expressed that she is leaving Today to spend more time with her children. She has made big steps to make her dream come true. Hoda purchased a new home in the suburbs and purchased a brand-new minivan. She is super excited to start her life being more involved with her children’s lives. Kotb said:
“I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking they deserve a bigger piece of my time, the pie that I have. I feel like we only have a finite amount of time, and so, with all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.”
It was announced that Craig Melvin will be taking over for Hoda Kotb. Unfortunately for Keke Palmer, the position has already been filled. There is however still hope for Palmer as the cohost for Hoda & Jenna has yet to be selected. Jenna Bush Hager will continue to host the segment with guest hosts until a permeate replacement is found. The segment will be called Today With Jenna & Friends.
