Katie Couric Excited For Hoda Kotb’s ‘Today’ Show Exit
Katie Couric is full of support for her former coworker Hoda Kotb as she transitions away from the Today Show. Katie worked as a co-anchor of Today from 1991-2006. She decided to leave the morning talk show for better opportunities. Hoda came in soon after Katie’s exit and has cohosted Today for 17 years. Now Hoda is leaving to spend more time with her family. Kotb will be replaced by Craig Melvin.

It has been revealed that Hoda Kotb’s last day on the Today Show is going to be January 10, 2025. Katie Couric has stated that she is excited for Hoda as she makes this big transition. Kotb expressed the need to make this change so she can spend more time with her family. She has moved to the suburbs and purchased her first minivan. All things she is very excited about. Her friend Katie is totally supportive of her choices. Couric said:
“I love Hoda, I think the world loves Hoda. She’s been there a long time. Like anyone, you want to take on new challenges. I did it for 15 years and I loved every minute, but I was ready to try something else. So I think Hoda was too.”
Hoda Kotb has two daughters at home. She has said that this is what her girls deserve. Hoda who is 60 said:
“I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on, and then I thought about it, obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have. I feel like we only have a finite amount of time.”
Katie Couric is ready to support her friend and Coworker as she makes this transition for herself and her family. Couric was able to grow into a better version of herself when she left the Today Show. she is excited to encourage Hoda as she does the same. Katie also had an opinion on Craig Melvin replacing Hoda Kotb.
Katie Couric Backs Hoda Kotb’s Replacement
Today announced that Craig Melvin would be replacing Hoda Kotb as cohost. Melvin will be joining Savanah Guthrie in January 2025. Katie Couric was encouraging of Craig filling Hoda’s spot in. Fans are eager to see what Craig brings to the show. Katie said:
“I think Craig is awesome. The audience knows him and likes him, so I think it’s really going to be a seamless transition. Sometimes those transitions can be bumpy and hard, so I think he’s just going to get in there and operate on all four cylinders. And the show is going to keep getting better and better, even though it’s great already.”
It is great to have a legend like Katie Couric support you! Craig Melvin has said “I am beyond excited and grateful. This is the latest in a long line of blessings.” Fans are looking forward to seeing what Melvin brings to Today.
