The DWTS Season 33 semifinals just wrapped up, meaning the season finale is just a week away. When the evening began, five couples hoped to get a chance to perform in the finale. But how many advanced?

DWTS Season 33 Fans Adore Each Of The Top Five Couples

During the DWTS Season 33 semifinals, the top five couples each gave two performances. And as Joey Graziadei noted in his pre-recorded package, the dances are significantly longer than they’ve been in the past episodes.

It was the last chance for the top five to impress judges and viewers at home to secure their place in the finale. To no one’s surprise, the judges handed out several 10s. There were many spectacular routines, making it hard for viewers to choose their favorites.

Before the semifinals began, many DWTS viewers suspected the Season 33 finale would closely mimic that of Season 32. Instead of a final four, Season 32 boasted a final five and all the semifinalists continued to the three-hour finale. When fans saw there was a scheduled three-hour spot on ABC next Tuesday night, the writing was practically on the wall.

This year’s top five contestants are incredibly popular with viewers, so a final five would please everyone heading into the finale. Some fans expressed excitement at each of the five getting a chance to compete in the finale, while others thought it would take some prestige away from the “finalist” title.

But what ultimately happened at the end of the night?

The Season 33 Finalists Have Been Chosen After A Competitive Night

The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson tied for the top spot on the leaderboard with Disney Channel actress Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong. The couples earned a combined total of 58/60 points.

However, Olympian Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten were hot on their heels with a score of 57/60. Since the couple struggled at the bottom of the leaderboard for so long, this was an incredibly remarkable surprise.

After seeing everyone improve, no one wanted to see anyone leave. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro happily announced that there wouldn’t be any elimination at the end of the evening. The top five would indeed be the final five.

The DWTS Season 33 finalists are:

  • Danny Amendola & Witney Carson
  • Joey Graziadei & Jenna Johnson
  • Stephen Nedoroscik & Rylee Arnold
  • Chandler Kinney & Brandon Armstrong
  • Ilona Maher & Alan Bersten
