Tina Arnold Talks Down To Her Critics Who Don’t Understand Her Choice

At the end of 1000-Lb Best Friends Season 2, Tina Arnold decided at the very last second she wasn’t going to undergo bariatric surgery. Since the start of the series, she made it clear surgery wasn’t the right option for her. On Instagram, the former TLC star has started sharing her own side of the story.

In a new Instagram post, she claimed she was always upfront about her beliefs on bariatric surgery. But over time, production pressured her until she reluctantly agreed.

“I have always found it hard to understand people that assume they know a stranger’s intentions and/or motivations. I thought it was pretty clear what happened on this ‘reality’ show and I have spoken about it so many times – so let me say this ONE last time for the newbies: Tina not want surgery,” the TLC star posted on Instagram. She later deleted the post.

She went on to list the events that led up to her leaving the show, formatted in a very simplistic pattern, patronizing her critics.

1000-Lb Best Friends Viewers Have Mixed Reactions

On Instagram, Tina’s fans rallied around her and applauded her choice not to have surgery. After all, undergoing any sort of procedure is a deeply personal choice.

Personally, I want to see people who lose weight without surgery,” one Instagram user wrote.

However, Redditors felt annoyed by the post and didn’t hold back. One user shared a screenshot of the post on the platform, immediately sparking criticism.

Comments included:

  • Girlfriend is so desperate to extend her 5 minutes of fame.”
  • “[Tina] was annoying. If she didn’t want the surgery, fine… but what pissed me off was when she just didn’t show up for it. Call and cancel like a big girl. You absolutely wasted a valuable surgery time slot that could’ve gone to someone else in need.”
  • “Tina English lessons need. Dang, she could just go back and live a private life if she wanted to. Why leave your life open to public scrutiny if you don’t want anything to do with the show? Move on dear.”
