‘1000-Lb Best Friends’ Fans Sour On New Castmate Scott
After Tina Arnold left 1000-Lb Best Friends, production decided to welcome two new cast members: a different woman named Tina and a man named Scott.
Right off the bat, fans seemed to like the newcomers. Vannessa Cross listened to Scott’s personal challenges in the bariatric support group and took him under her wing.
But after the previews for next week’s episode, some viewers are starting to sour on the newest TLC star. What exactly happened?
1000-Lb Best Friends Star Scott Might Be Losing Fans
Like many other stars on TLC weight loss shows, Scott struggles with overeating. In support group, he’s talked about yo-yo dieting and how he would always fall back into his old poor habits.
Fans want Scott to succeed, but he’s definitely going to have to make some changes.
“Scott’s scenes from next week’s episode,” a Reddit user shared online, attaching the teaser for Tuesday’s upcoming episode. In the clip, Scott admits he’s struggling with the pressure of losing weight and living up to Dr. Procter’s expectations.
He and his mother head to an appointment with the bariatric surgeon, where Scott insists he’s given up wing nights for the sake of weight loss. His mother interjects and says Scott went to wing night the week before and isn’t practicing healthy eating habits.
After Dr. Procter agrees that Scott is making bad choices, the TLC star angrily gets up and storms out of the exam room.
Viewers Hope Scott Can Change His Ways
Other Redditors weren’t at all pleased with the clip. Some fans thought it reminded them of Meghan Crumpler storming out of Dr. Procter’s office last season.
Comments included:
- “Scott was starting to grow on me but then this pissed me off. His mom is being honest not ‘tattling.’ Hes saying she’s not being supportive but agreeing with his lies isn’t support it’s enabling – so good for her for calling him out.”
- “Scott is really caught in a terrible cycle. He’s big but wants to lose weight. … I think he will turn things around and do great but he needs a lot of support and guidance. He is young and does not have the usual conditions exacerbated by obesity. Now is the time.”
- “I like Scott! But oh boy he has a long way to go I think after seeing this. He seems to be obsessed with food”
