What Happened To Richard Simmons’ 5 Million Dollar Mansion?
What happened to Richard Simmon’s $5 million mansion after the fitness guru passed away? He died in July 2024 of natural causes at the age of seventy-six. This was not easy as he had amassed fans all over the country for decades. So, after all of the love and fanfare, what has become of his beloved home? Keep reading for more details.
What Happened To Richard Simmons’ $5 Million Mansion?
For years, Richard Simmons brought incredible joy to fans as a fitness guru. He wore bedazzled micro shorts and matching tank tops with his curly hair. His goal was to inspire everyone to live their best lives and know that they could achieve their weight loss goals. He did just that with at-home workout videos that had the best soundtracks from various decades. Sadly, Richard stopped coming out of his home after a while and essentially became a recluse. Fans wondered if he was okay so he popped his head out to alert the media he was just fine.
When he passed away, it was very sad because he had so much love and light around him. He announced that there was an interactive Broadway show being created about his life. This came after Richard bashed the unauthorized biopic about him starring Pauly Shore. He felt it was offensive and wanted a true depiction of himself and his life to come out. Unfortunately, he died before that could happen but his beloved housekeeper, Teresa Reveles Muro, spoke out, heartbroken over his passing. She made them seem like they were family, and life partners and fought to be a conservator of his estate.
However, Teresa also allegedly took around one million dollars worth of Richard Simmons’ assets. Now, according to In Touch Weekly, Richard’s home is being sold, per Teresa. His brother, Leonard Simmons allegedly wants to sell the home and Richard’s personal property. Though Teresa aimed to be a co-trustee, she claims she signed papers absolving her of that under duress. Furthermore, she alleged Leonard is now working alongside Richard’s estranged manager to get rid of all items without even asking her.
End Of An Era
In Teresa’s mind, she feels that this is a rushed sale and that she should be consulted before there is a fire sale of Richard Simmons’ belongings. She also seems to believe she should have a say over what stays and what goes. Teresa stated that Leonard Simmons:
“admits he is actively preparing to dispose of numerous of Richard’s personal effects, as he retained a real estate agent to market Richard’s home where all of his personal effects were maintained and has made arrangements with an auction house to view and appraise Richard’s personal effects so they can be sold.”
As for the manager, there was a lot of alleged bad blood between this person and Richard. So, Teresa is unclear as to why they have been brought in. Leonard clapped back at Teresa noting that two trustees would be problematic. He added that she also had her own home while living with Richard:
“Teresa has her own home, she had a room in Richard’s house that she refused to vacate after his death. When she finally did leave, 76 days later, she took almost $1 million of Richard’s jewelry and other valuable pieces of fine art, which she has refused to return.”
Hopefully, his home and belongings are sold properly so all of his fans and loved ones have a chance to own a piece of the late Richard Simmons.
