‘Today’ How Al Roker Really Feels About Ozempic Use
Al Roker has a lot to say about losing weight and remaining healthy. However, most of his thoughts come from his ideas for dieting and eating healthy. He even has a new cookbook he is promoting about the subject. With that in mind, he was asked recently about people who use Ozempic to lose weight.
Here is what Al had to say about the subject and his thoughts on the weight loss drug.
Al Roker Speaks Out About Ozempic For Weight Loss
Al Roker is promoting his new cookbook, Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By: Easy, Memory-Making Family Dishes for Every Occasion. He said that he understands addiction issues, and that includes eating addiction. This makes him a little more sympathetic toward people who try to find other ways to lose weight.
“Listen, it’s unlike any other addiction or dependence. You can live without alcohol, you can live without cigarettes, whatever that drug of choice is, but you’ve got to eat, and so for some people, it’s just difficult,” Al said (via US Magazine). He also understands that people who gain a lot of weight because of this addiction will look at drugs like Ozempic for an easy solution.
Al said he refuses to judge anyone who makes that choice.
“If this is what works for them, I mean, who are we to say, ‘Oh, don’t do that.’ As long as it’s safe and effective, good for you. I think everybody’s journey is their journey,” Al said.
Al admits that he won’t give people advice because everyone has good and bad days, and it isn’t his place. He said that everyone has to figure out their own path. “If that path is one of these drugs and that works for them, great,” he said. And if it helps you, if that’s the thing that gets you over that point where you’re able to be healthier and lead a more active lifestyle, that’s great.”
Al Roker Defends Kelly Clarkson
Al Roker also previously defended Kelly Clarkson when people began bashing her for allegedly using Ozempic. Kelly has since said she didn’t use that drug, but she had to do something different for actual health reasons. Despite this, some people feel the need to judge others for perceived shortcuts.
“There’s too much judgment going on,” Roker said. “People, as long as they’re working with their doctors and being healthy about it, people ought to back off and let them live their lives.”
Of course, the problem is that Ozempic is a diabetes drug. When celebrities use it for weight loss reasons, it causes others to follow suit. For extended periods over the last two years, the drug and its counterparts have been unavailable for long stints thanks to the restrictions on how much drug companies can make. This means diabetics go without at times while others use it to lose weight.
