Garth Brooks Files To Close Sexual Assault Case, Moves Location
Country music star Garth Brooks has filed to dismiss the recent sexual assault and battery lawsuit against him. This comes from allegations made against the singer by his former makeup-artist. Brooks’ legal team is hoping to see a judge by early December.
The New Motion Also Requests A New Location
According to a 17-page motion, Brooks and his legal team have filed to dismiss the case. They’ve requested a hearing with Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald on December 8 in Los Angeles.
As noted by an October 8 document, a former employee, Jane Roe, of Brooks claimed she was victimized by the singer. Roe, a former hairstylist and makeup-artist for the star, alleged Brooks of groping and explicit remarks.
According to Deadline, Roe’s lawyer, Doug Wigdor, was noted as sharing, “Brooks believes he is entitled to sexual gratification when he wants it, and using a female employee to get it, is fair game.”
For his part, Brooks rejected these accusations. The star has claimed these allegations were meant to threaten him to “write a check for many millions of dollars.”
Back in September, Brooks originally filed an anonymous action. With this new motion, the star hopes to see all of the proceedings go to Mississippi. The case also asks for Roe’s case to be refiled as counterclaims.
Brooks Was About To Restart His Caesars Palace Residency
Brooks’ team also claims that the September filing and Roe’s October filing are examples of “duplicative litigation.” His team also noted that, “Roe herself agrees that the cases overlap.” By Federal Rule, compulsory counterclaims based on the same facts must be litigated with the first-filled action and not in another court with another suit.
As the motion shares, “Indeed, a few days after Brooks’ counsel reached out to Roe’s counsel to meet and confer about this Motion to Dismiss, Roe filed a motion in the Southern District of Mississippi.” It was alleged that the new motion “asked the court there to transfer the Mississippi Action to this Court because, according to Roe, Brooks’ tort claims against Roe are compulsory counterclaims that arise from the same operative facts.”
Roe has not responded to the motion. However, one of her attorneys, Jeanne M. Christensen, has released the following statement:
“This is just more of the same bullying and intimidation Garth Brooks has used from the moment he learned our client intended to hold him accountable. We look forward to getting before a jury and reaching the merits of this case.”
At this time, Brooks was set to restart his Caesars Palace residency early this December. However, his recent “Inside Studio G” broadcast, Brooks released a statement suggesting the case was in his mind. As he shared, “[Truth is] not told by one voice, it’s told by the people that were actually there.”

Sounds like extortion or money. grubbers – if a grown woman was abused physically mentally or verbally by Garth Brooks why would she wait years to accuse him! She would have been bragging about it as soon as it happened – if it had happened! She’s probably mad he wouldn’t sleep with her!
