Former The Masked Singer panelist Nicole Scherzinger has been locked in a legal battle with her former band, the Pussycat Dolls. She has been involved in a years-long court battle with Robin Antin, the group’s founder. However, that has finally come to an end as the two finally reached a settlement in the case.
Here is what you need to know about the Pussycat Dolls lawsuit and court settlement.
Nicole Scherzinger Settles with Pussycat Dolls Founder
The years-long court battle between Nicole Scherzinger and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin has reached a “settlement in principle.” According to the reports, Scherzinger and Antin informed the court of their deal on Friday, November 1.
“The parties have reached a settlement in principle, subject to the execution of certain written agreements,” the lawyers revealed (via In Touch Weekly). The women have asked that the “Court set an Order to Show Cause” based on their ongoing business relationship. They want the dismissal no sooner than 60 calendar days from the notice (via Page Six).
Nicole Scherzinger was a member of the Pussycat Dolls until 2009. Robin had originally sued Nicole after a proposed Pussycat Dolls reunion and tour fell apart. Nicole then countersued Robin, alleging she damaged the brand of the group.
What Was The Nicole Scherzinger Court Battle About?
Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin sued Nicole Scherzinger in September 2021. This lawsuit came after a planned Pussycat Dolls reunion and tour. In the lawsuit, Robin said Nicole agreed to a 49 percent cut of the profits. Antin said she spent a lot of time working on the project.
The group rescheduled the initial tour dates and then announced them in 2021. However, Nicole then refused to perform until the deal was renegotiated. Robin said that Nicole wanted 75 percent of the profits to tour and “complete creative control” along with “final-decision-making authority.”
“Tour dates were planned but are unable to be confirmed because of [Nicole’s] extortion,” the lawsuit claimed. Robin received a $600,000 advance from Live Nation, and the company wanted the advance back.
Nicole denies the allegations and countersued Robin for $1.1 million in damages. Nicole claims Robin “breached her duties and obligations” and “severely damaged Pussycat Doll’s good will.” Scherzinger also accused her of “self-dealing, waste and fraud.”
Nicole Scherzinger has since begun working on new projects. She left The Masked Singer and has a new reality TV competition series she is helping launch. The new show is titled Building the Band. Scherzinger will be one of three judges, along with Kelly Rowand of Destiny’s Child and Liam Payne of One Direction.
