‘Deadliest Catch’ How Is Captain Wild Bill Amid Cancer Diagnosis?
Captain “Wild” Bill Wichrowski of the Deadliest Catch shared his prostate cancer diagnosis at the end of the show’s 19th season. Since then, fans of the show have been worried about his health. Some viewers are still asking questions since the show’s 20th season has also come and gone.
‘Wild Bill’ Has Been Open With His Health Concers
Captain “Wild Bill” joined the reality series back in 2010. Throughout his time on the show, he’s worked on ships including the F/V Summer Bay, F/V Cape Caution, and F/V Kodiak.
Wichrowski had been open with his cancer battle with fans, which had been highlighted throughout the season. Showcasing his determination, “Wild Bill” also initially went against his doctor’s orders to receive treatment as soon as possible.
Instead, Wichrowski initially sought to continue fishing. As noted by Monsters & Critics, he was noted to say, “I’m going to keep going until I actually can’t.”
Eventually, however, Wichrowski had to make changes in his life. While receiving treatment, he temporarily handed over the reins to his ship, the F/V Summer Bay, to a crew member, Landon Cheney.
Back in August, the series’ Facebook page shared that Wichrowski was talking about an implant device that would remove cancer cells. Since then, he has maintained a presence on social media, giving some fans hints about how he is doing.
Deadliest Catch Fans Have Found Wichrowski An Inspiration
While Wichrowski hasn’t shared specific updates about his current health, fans still tune into his Facebook account for new posts. One recent post shows him “enjoying a small fire this evening” as October becomes November.
This active lifestyle has given fans hope that “Wild Bill” is making a comfortable recovery. Thanks to this, fans are hoping they will continue to see him as the show continues into more seasons.
Throughout his time on the show, Wichrowski won over his fans with his honesty and work ethic. As he shares his health updates, many found him a source of inspiration, convincing many Deadliest Catch viewers to pay attention to their own health, as well as get regular check-ups.

Fans have also shared their support online. As one user wrote on one of Wichrowski’s Instagram posts, “We love you Bill! Just remember, the power of prayer is more powerful than any cancer, and you have millions of people around the globe keeping you in their thoughts and prayers.”
Wichrowski isn’t the only Deadliest Catch captain whose health issues have recently been showcased on the series. Throughout much of season 20, fans gave attention to another captain’s health concerns. Captain Keith Colburn suffered a cardiac event while at sea. Notably, his brother had to overcome dangerous waters for him to receive medical treatment.

I’m praying for you Bill. I sat with my ex-wife for almost 9 months so that our daughter didn’t have to quit her job.
Watching ANYONE wither away due to that terrible disease is something I never want to do again!!
Good luck, brother
