There are often times when a person loses on Wheel of Fortune, and fans disagree with the decision. That happened again this past week when a contestant named Janie, a retired music and theater arts teacher from Bennington, Vermont, had a chance to win $50,000. While she lost out on the big prize, viewers at home felt she should have won.

Here is what happened with Janie on the show.

Wheel Of Fortune Contestant Missed Easy Puzzle?

Janie won $19,200 in cash on Wheel of Fortune. She also won a trip to Savannah, Georgia. After this, she had a chance to add $50,000 to that total in the bonus round. She selected the “Phrase” category and added the letters “FDHO.”

She had quite a few letters, but they were spread out, making it a tough puzzle. The squares showed *EE* / ** / THE / *OOD / *OR*.” Janie struggled through it and could only come up with “… Good Word.” The 10-second timer ran out, and Ryan Seacrest showed her the final answer was: “KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.”

Ryan then showed the prize card, which was for $50,000, and Janie looked disappointed. However, she said that she was still “very happy.”

This led to fans on the YouTube share of the video chiming in on why they thought Janie should have won.

  • “This was the phrase commonly used in schools. Janie is actually a teacher so how did she forget keep up the good work”
  • ““I was shocked she didn’t get it! But I mean if you don’t know, you might not know”
  • “I got it. Once you get it, it’s easy. But it was a crapshoot. I was struggling at first but was able to figure it out. Too bad she was not able to do the same.”

Ryan Seacrest Succeeding As Wheel Of Fortune Host

When Ryan Seacrest took over as the Wheel of Fortune host, there were fans who refused to give him a chance. Many people nitpicked all his miscues and believed he would lose the job and get replaced. However, he has been a huge success.

Since taking over, Ryan Seacrest has helped Wheel of Fortune become the most-watched entertainment series across broadcast, cable, and syndication for the month of September (via Variety). The show dropped in the ratings during the summer reruns of Pat Sajak’s final season, but Ryan helped it rebound.

In his first month as the host, the show averaged 7.99 million viewers. More people watched the game show than any other show on linear TV when sports and news shows were removed from the conversation. It is also up 3% in the 25-54 age demographic from last year.

  1. I think Ryan is doing fine. He appears to be happy on the show and energetic. I think he keeps the pace of it going well. It is a fast moving show, and it is over before I know it.
