The Truth Behind Kamie Crawford’s ‘Catfish’ Exit
What is the truth behind Kamie Crawford exiting MTV’s hit reality series, Catfish? She has been the co-host for six seasons, replacing Max Joseph. Fans have been extremely receptive to her and love the banter she has with Nev Schulman. So, what really made her opt to abruptly leave the show? Keep reading for more details.
Kamie Crawford Spills The Tea On Leaving Catfish
A short time back, Kamie Crawford posted an announcement that she was leaving Catfish after six years. She shared she was moving on to her “next adventure.” There were other projects in the works and, essentially, Kamie had achieved all she had wanted to on the MTV series. Fans started to speculate that it had something to do with creator, Nev Schulman. Did they disagree politically and that caused a falling out? Another telltale sign that there was trouble in paradise was when Nev was in a horrific bike accident. Everyone reached out to check in on him but Kamie was seemingly a no-show.
It was sensed the two had stopped getting along and the show may be in trouble. Yet, there was nothing to substantiate it until Kamie announced she was leaving. A question arose if she had been fired but she shut that down very quickly.
Rumors were flying all over the place and many wanted to know what the real story was. Kamie seemed to be the perfect fit and then she was leaving. What was the reason? Was there more to her statement or was it just as simple as she just wanted to venture out and try new things? According to People, it was all about the schedule, which consisted of 100+ episodes in a season. As much as she loved what she was doing and did not want to leave, it became too much for her after a certain point:
“There’s never been, I don’t think, a show that has operated like that. So it was a lot. It was intense. But I’ve always been somebody who thrives when I have a lot going on. I feel it’s when I don’t have a lot going on that I’m like, ‘What do I do?'”
However, Kamie Crawford admitted there was a lot on her plate with Are You the One?, Ex On the Beach, and Catfish. Plus, she has her podcast, all of which she loves but a decision had to be made.
Fear Of Goodbye
When Kamie Crawford decided to leave Catfish, it was very hard and emotional:
“I was definitely scared to make the decision. It has been in my life for six years, and the fans are the best fans in the entire world. They truly, truly are. And even when I made the announcement, they were like, ‘We will follow you wherever you go.’ So that made it worth it.”
She added that she lives her life with no regrets and had to take the chances coming her way. Knowing her Catfish fans would remain loyal helped some though it is never easy. As for when her last episode will be is unknown. It may have already aired. Her replacement has not been announced. When Max Joseph announced his departure, they searched far and wide until Kamie was for sure the one.
