Here is what you need to know.
Ant Anstead Files For Bankruptcy
Ant Anstead’s bespoke carmaker, Roadford Motors, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (via PEOPLE). The filing was made on October 22 and this came after fraud and misrepresentation allegations rose up against Ant and his company.
Ant revived defunct British automaker Radford in 2020, aiming to build high-end, custom sports cars. In 2023, he and Formula One champ Jenson Button starred in the five-part docuseries called Radford Reborn. They created a Lotus-Radford Type 62-2 supercar.
ANt said at the time it was high risk, and he and six other people were privately funding the company. He said they were “risking everything.” The car they created won a major award before the documentary was even released. It beat out Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Bugatti, and others at the motorsports festival Goodwood.
Ant Anstead Company Files Bankruptcy Amidst Fraud Allegations
This bankruptcy comes after Ant Anstead was accused of fraud and misrepresentation by one of his business partners. Pastor Pat Velasco filed a lawsuit against Ant and one of his co-founders, Daniel Bednarski, on March 8 in California.
The pastor claims that Anstead and Bednarski owe him $2 million. That was just the start, as well, because co-owner Roger N. Behle Jr. filed a complaint on July 24, claiming Anstead and Bednarski mismanaged the company’s finances.
According to Behle, Bednarski was Anstead’s life coach before the business deal, and they secured a new sale of $100,000. However, the complaint indicates that the two men took over $54,000 from that sale and used it to pay a vendor for work that had nothing to do with the new vehicle. The complaint also accuses Bednarski of paying himself $20,000 from that sale. It also claims the two men used company money for personal expenses.
Anstead and Bednarski filed a counterclaim against both men.
While Anstead hasn’t commented on the bankruptcy, Bednarski released a statement. In it, he said, “Radford Motors is going through a Chapter 11 Business restructure that will be implementing strategic changes to strengthen our foundation for the future.” No mention was made about the claims against him.
Anstead did previously say that he knew he was “taking on a monumentally difficult project in an industry that’s really tough, because we are up against some big brands with some big funding. We just had to collectively believe in what we were doing.”
