‘Wheel Of Fortune:’ Ryan Seacrest Spooked By Halloween Trick
With Halloween right around the corner, even game shows know it’s time to get a little spooky. However, sometimes a show gets so spooky it ends up scaring its own host. On one recent Halloween-themed episode of Wheel of Fortune, a trick ended up scaring host Ryan Seacrest.
Halloween Is The Cat’s Meow On Wheel Of Fortune
This past Monday, Wheel of Fortune aired a Halloween themed episode, complete with a spooky set. Viewers were treated to spooky trees, jack-o-lanterns, and a backdrop showing a haunted house.
Pediatric emergency nurse Mallory Rosetti made her way to the bonus round and picked the “Thing” category. As her sons cheered her on, she spun the prize wheel and landed on the the “I” wedge.
However, as noted by TV Insider, Seacrest got a little surprise when he picked up the envelope. A sound effect resembling the hiss of a cat soon filled the studio.
Both Seacrest and Rosetti seemed caught off guard as the sound played. The host then jokingly looked around as if he was looking for the cat and swayed around the envelope, as if to swat any unseen feline fiends. Seacrest let out a simple, “Woah!,” as the contestant chimed in, “Watch out!”
Despite playing along, Seacrest admitted that the sound effect scared him, noting, “I was not expecting that myself.” It was then time to continue the game.
The puzzle was two words and after additional letters were guessed, read “_ _ BEAT’ ‘M_ S_ _.” As the timer began, Rosetti guessed the correct answer: “UPBEAT MUSIC.”
Many Fans Talked About The Cat Scare on YouTube
Seacrest revealed that the correct guess earned Rosetti another $40,000, bringing her total to $81,248. As she embraced her sons, the host noted that, “I have chills!”
The clip of Rosetti’s bonus round was also uploaded onto the official Wheel of Fortune YouTube channel. While there, many fans congratulated Rosetti on her win.
However, a few took note of the cat scare. Quite a few even shared timestamps so fans could tune into right when the unseen cat meowed.
As one commenter noted, “The cat noise was hilarious, as was Ryan’s reaction to it.” Another wrote that they “loved the meow. [I] know that [Ryan wasn’t] expecting that. [Congrats] to her.” One commenter simply wrote, “The cat sound,” paired with a skull emoji.

In the post, Maggie Sajak notably appears dressed as both a good witch and a bad witch as viewers get a close look at the redesigned set. Even Sheldon the Dalmatian was seen wearing a butterfly costme.
