‘DWTS’ Witney Carson & Danny Amendola React To Viral Moment
Pro dancer Witney Carson and NFL star Danny Amendola solidified themselves as top contenders on DWTS after Dedication Night. The pair performed a stunning Contemporary routine to “Unsteady (Erich Lee Gravity Remix)” by X Ambassadors, receiving a 36/40 for the routine.
In the number, Danny pulls Witney up from the floor by her leg. Viewers went wild for the move and tried to recreate it at home, causing a viral TikTok trend.
But what do the Dancing With The Stars contestants think?
Witney Carson & Danny Amendola Feel Honored By Fans’ Response
Dedication Night kicked off on October 15, but fans are still recreating Witney Carson and Danny Amendola’s routine. The pair feels shocked at their newfound viral fame.
“I didn’t really know it was viral. I had to go in [rehearsals] and be like, ‘My algorithm must be messed up, Witney. … Everybody’s doing our dance!’” the former New England Patriot shared in an interview with Page Six.
“It’s amazing to get [that] support from the fans. We put so much work into it, and to get their positive feedback every week — and then to see it go viral — was awesome,” Danny added. “It gives us juice and gets us really excited. We’re geeked up watching it.”
“I never thought I’d go TikTok viral with a leg move that I did on Dancing With The Stars,” Witney chimed in. “I never thought that, but hey, we’ll take it! We love to see it.”
Even competitors Alan Berstan and Ilona Maher gave it a try.
The DWTS Performers Want Everyone To Stay Safe
As great as their viral moment is, Witney and Danny want fans to take proper precautions before trying it at home. Some have reported injuries after trying the dance move in their own living room — including broken hips.
“I would say just keep your feet together as the anchor,” Witney shared. “For the girls, it’s really important to keep that bottom leg straight and then arch up like a front walk over. So you’re bringing your butt up, and you’re arching.”
“You don’t want to get them wobbly and then off balance, so that’s the main thing,” Danny added, advising dancers to ensure the girls are balanced. “And then let go of their foot when they’re coming down, because they need somewhere to go.”
The pair even added a tutorial on TikTok. They love watching fans recreate their viral moment, but don’t want anyone to injure themselves.
Danny Amendola and Witney Carson return to the ballroom on Tuesday night where they’ll perform a spooky Halloween-themed routine. Fans who want to keep them in the competition need to vote.
