Ryan Seacrest’s Shocking Pay Compared To What Pat Sajak Made
Ryan Seacrest joined Wheel of Fortune during its 42nd season, having taken on hosting duties from Pat Sajak. Since then, there has been speculation from fans about how much the new host is making. In particular, some fans are curious what Seacrest’s paycheck looks like compared to Sajak’s.
An Inside Source Shed Some Light On The Situation
While fans have been apprehensive about Seacrest’s new role on the show, the show still has had good ratings. This, combined with the show’s initial interest in bringing on Seacrest, has seen the TV personality taken care of financially.
With his new role as host, Seacrest is currently believed to be earning around $28 million per year. While it’s already a pretty penny, fans are wondering just how much this stacks up to how much Sajak was paid on the show.
It’s rumored that Sajak was paid around $15 million a year by the time he left the series. If these rumors are true, Seacrest would be making nearly twice as much as his predecessor.
That said, there is some speculation that Seacrest is actually being paid less than Sajak. According to The U.S. Sun, an insider, identified as a “top-level Sony source,” suggested the show wants Seacrest to prove himself.
“What is certain is that Ryan is being paid less than Pat, at least initially…Ryan and his team did not come into this trying to outdo Pat’s very generous salary.”
Ryan Seacrest Appears To Be Happy With The New Gig
However, the source suggested that Seacrest could end up out-earning Sajak after a few renewals, provided he prove himself. As it was noted, “He’s walked away from a lot of work to do this job, and he’s determined to leave the show in better shape than he found it in!”
Seacrest also appears to be happy with his current role in the series as well. On Instagram, the new host shared some behind-the-scenes footage of working on the show. He noted, “This week has been a dream, and it’s just the beginning! Thanks for the warm welcome.”

For his part, as noted by Monsters & Critics, Seacrest hasn’t talked much about his salary. However, the way things are going, he might be getting a salary increase on the horizon. So far, Seacrest’s ratings during his debut exceeded Sajak’s from the previous season by 70%.
On the other hand, as previously reported, some fans still are adjusting to seeing someone new take on Sajak’s job. In a recent episode, there had been some speculation from viewers that Seacrest wasn’t giving contestants enough time to complete the puzzles.
