Jon Gosselin’s Thoughts On Collin Wanting Relationship With Kate
Jon Gosselin has been extremely supportive of his son Collin Gosselin. Collin was institutionalized as a child by his mother for alleged mental health disorders. Now that he is an adult Collin is coming forward about the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of his mother Kate Gosselin. In a recent interview, Collin expressed an interest in possible reconciliation with Kate. Jon Gosselin has praised his son for wanting to reconcile and said he would support him in his efforts.
Collin Gosselin Shares His Traumatic Past
Collin Gosselin opened up in a recent interview that he was abused emotionally and physically by his mother Kate Gosselin. He stated that when the cameras weren’t present for the 2000s reality show Jon And Kate Plus 8 his mother abused him. Collin alleged his mother zip-tied his arms and legs and locked him in the basement.
Kate Gosselin had her son Collin admitted to a mental health facility at age 11, claiming he had several behavioral and psychiatric conditions. However, Collin shared his private medical records which showed this was not the case. Jon Gosselin, Collin’s dad, was already out of the home when this happened. Jon did not have custody of sextuplets; Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Leah, Joel, and twins Mady and Cara. Because of this, he could not have intervened to help Collin.
Jon Gosselin Supports Son Collin
Jon has stated that he supports his son in whatever his path may include. Recently Collin has said that he may try to reconcile with his mother Kate. Jon said
“I love my son, I support him. I think it’s good for a man to speak up about things that happened and I think it’s closure for him. If he wants to rectify things with his mother, I think that’s ok, you know, best of luck and… I always tell him that, you do you, bro. That’s all that matters.”
Despite the traumatic history between Collin and Kate, Collin is open to reconciliation. He said that he is also open to establishing a better relationship with his estranged siblings Aaden, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Mady, and Cara. The siblings currently have taken Kate’s side in the family drama.
Collin said “So first and foremost, my relationship with my brothers and sisters is of top priority to me, and I think the only way that my mother and I would be able to reconnect and fix our relationship in the future is, if she would just come forward with the truth and all the things that she has kept under wraps. And you know the many times that she’s tried to soil my name and my father’s name. I just would want her to come forward with the truth. [But] Yes, that door would be open. 100 percent.”
What do you think of Collin trying to reconcile with his mother and abuser? Is there forgiveness to be had there? Let us know what you think in the comments.
