Fans of The Price is Right know that the game show can feature impressive wins and heartbreaking losses, sometimes, within the very same episode. This was the case with a recent episode of the series. However, even the contestants who didn’t win it all still ended up getting their own happy endings of sorts.

A Game Of Highs & Lows

Early on in the October 16 episode, fans saw one contestant take on the “Cliff Hangers” challenge. During the game, contestants guess the price of different items, with each usually having a high price than the last.

With each guess, a cartoon mountain climber can scale a mountain, depending on how close the contestant’s guess was. However, if the contestant’s guess it too far off, the climber risks falling off the mountain.

During the recent episode, a contestant, Kathy, had to guess the prices for a steam iron, a boot dryer, and a face and hair trimmer. She correctly guessed $25 for the iron, so the climber didn’t move. He also stayed put when she was just $2 off for the boot warmer.

The trimmer, however, proved to be a bit trickier. Ultimately, the climber only went up eight spots, Kathy managed to win a trip to London. As noted by Monsters & Critics, the trip was noted as being worth around $12,000.

Kathy’s big win on the show gave the viewers a happy moment early on. However, viewers would also get to see a big loss before the episode’s end.

Even The Losers Didn’t Go Home Empty-Handed

During the final round, two contestants, Kaylinda and Deamein, tried to win prizes during the Showcase round. During the round, contestants compete to bid the closest price for a package. If they are close enough, they could win both Showcases. However, they cannot overbid.

Unfortunately, both contestants overbid on the price. Host Drew Carey could be seen throwing the second price card up in the air. Both contestants hugged each other as Carey shook their hands.

The double overbid cost the episode a Showcase winner. However, neither contestant went away empty-handed. Kaylinda won a portable outdoor fireplace, a computer, surfboards, a ping-pong table, and a few Prada items. For his part, Deamein won a Smart TV, complete with headphones, a remote holder, a Roku streaming device, and a brand new car.

The Price is Right‘s official YouTube channel also shared the moment. As the post asked, “Will Kathy make it up the cliff and win a cool prize? Or will she be left in a cliffhanger?”

Many comments also highlighted the contrast between the game’s wins with the loss that ended the show. As one commenter wrote, “Well, 5 out of 6 games won is a great part, but the ending was unbelievable, first double overbid of the season but not by much, one over by $299 and one was more heartbreaking: over by $65 even though Drew didn’t do the math.”
