Tia Mowry Shares Feelings Of Anxiety
Tia Mowry spent five years filming Sister, Sister with her sister Tamera Mowry. She expressed that behind the smile, she was harboring many difficult emotions. Among them, she experienced feelings of anxiety and dejection. Mowry said that her anxiety was exacerbated by having to perform in front of a live studio audience.
“I think during Sister, Sister days was when I first had bouts of anxiety when it came to being in front of an audience, being on set when there’s an audience, like right in front of you. Talk about shaking in your bones. What if the line that is scripted for you is not funny?” She contiued “You’re performing live in front of an audience and you know you’re a kid … if you’re going to get a good grade on this test, you’re worrying about boys, you’re worried about standing on your mark. You’re worried about how you look. You know, there’s just a lot going on.”
Tia Mowry had a lot of pressure on her for such a young kid. Eventually, Mowry says she got used to the feelings of anxiety. She said what helped her was learning why she was having anxiety. Tia used visualization and mindfulness to help overcome her difficult feelings.
Mowry Felt Dejected
Tia Mowry struggled with several difficult emotions during her sitcom days. In addition to anxiety, she says she felt feelings of dejection. Rejection is a difficult thing to deal with, and as a child star, Tia had to deal with this. She recalls going for additions and grappling with difficult emotions surrounding the process.
Ms. Mowry shared “I think it never gets easy or easier,” she admits. “But I was really, really young. And I remember I had tried out for The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air I believe the character was Ashley, and I didn’t get it and I just felt dejected.” Mowry continued “But as time went on, I realized that if I wasn’t rejected, then I wouldn’t have been able to do Sister, Sister. You just have to trust the process and trust the journey and trust that what is for you is for you, and what is for you will never miss you.”
